Another point on The Detroit Cobras manyof their tunes are covers, old R and B, Motown B-sides etc. Really like them too.

I also dig Ty's cover of "Cherry Red" and his whole EP "Ty Rex" where he covers 6 T-Rex tunes. Great stuff.

anyone know of a good punkified cover of Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison? I know Ty Segall did a version, I just wanted to see of anyone else did.

Really hope this comes out -- and kinda hope it's as clean as that Youtube video.
'Clean' is relative of course, but in the context of Teengenerate, that song sounded downright tidy. hehe

iT LOOKS LIKE WE'RE COMING UPON LUX'S BIRTHDAY , AGAIN....
I WISH MY FRIEND , JEFF , WHO REMEMBERS EVERY DATE , CONCERNING THE CRAMPS , WERE HERE TO REMIND ME THE ACTUAL DATE..... ANYWAY , HIS REBIRTH , SADLY FOR US , WAS A FEW YEARS AGO. IT DOES'NT EVEN SEEM THAT LONG AGO TO ME. HE WAS CELEBRATED WITH AN ASTRAL PROJECTION , AS WITNESSED BY THE FEW WORTHY SOULS , CHOSEN BY OUR QUEEN , IVY , INCLUDING ART FEIN AND JOHNNY LEGEND , KINGS OF MEN.
NICK TOSCHES MAY HAVE BEEN THERE , TOO? BUT , I TOOK LUX TO BE A VERY SPIRITUAL PERSON , THOUGH ON A DIFFERENT PLANE, ALTOGETHER , THAN WHAT MOST DEFINE AS SPIRITUAL , JUST AS HE WAS ON AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT PLANE IN THE PHYSICAL WORLD. '' I JUST CAN'T IDENTIFY - EYE - TO EYE - TO EYE - WITH THIS WORLD , SO, I DON'T TRY.".......... HAPPY BIRTHDAY , ERIK/VIP/LUX.....WE MISS YOU , BUT , WE SURE WERE GLAD YOU LIVED IN OUR TIME.....ALWAYS FIVE YEARS AHEAD OF IT.
Lux was born on October 20. I forget the year. Truly one of a kind. The world is a smaller place without him.

I saw Alice Cooper on Halloween night last year in Glasgow, doesn't get any more perfect than that! Costumed freaks galore and everyone rocking out. (New York Dolls supported, sufficiently sloppy and too cool for school, it was a real old boys night!) Sure Alice's voice showed a few signs of wear and tear but you can forgive him cause he's been bringing it for so long now.

I'm sick of seeing Turbo albums on discogs for $35.00 + for official pressings and bootlegs going for $20 +.
I heard that Volcom is heading up the reissues, in talks now with VP of Sales there on how TJ - LA can be present in their making, idea's a plenty.
Anyone else here stoked on this finally being done?
Here's something, Sexual Apocalypse for a turbo cover band. There's actually a lot of them out there!

Track list for Vol. 9 ("Garage Monsters") has been posted here:

Should be ready to go by Monday, Oct. 1.
This is definitely a must have for me! Awesome sauce.
JAMC were good. To this day I still have the Swervedriver albums and 'Whirlpool' by Chapterhouse on my iPod. Ride were my favourite shoegazers (but their last album was awful!)

Never got into the shoegaze stuff, but JAMC and Chapterhouse were awesome.
Preacherman said:Man, takes me back - at college in the late 80's and listened to hardcore punk and garage revival stuff mainly but with a fair smattering of british indie (or just indie as we called it in the UK) - Pop Will Eat Itself always a fave, plus the aformentioned Inspiral Carpets (Mad As Fuck), Stone Roses and loads of 'shoegaze' and 'dreampop' stuff (Cocteau Twins, Loop, Swervedriver). Don't really indulge too often now, but an important part of my musical history.
Hey how's it going? They should be releasing a 7" very soon. They're also playing the bullet tonight.
