Another one of ol' Tom
The Clash in the King of Comedy and widening it The Standells are in an episode of The Munsters
From "Rock , Baby Rock It" , shot in Ft. Worth with Johnny Carroll , Deacon Smith (?) , Kay Martin (President of The Elvis Fan Club , and , boy , could she dance dirty. I met her several years ago , real cool lady , looked great , too.). This is a real Rock'n'Roll movie with real Rock 'n'Roll teens , so quit bitching about technical jive.

This is a great thread! Lots to hunt down. Anyone mention Scotland's The Wildebeests. Not sure exactly when they formed, but have been around a good while now. Dirty Water put out a retrospective last year that's definitely worth checking out.
Hey this is where I shoulda been when I started a discussion on Psychobilly into Garage, (started in Trading Post, oops)... oh well , yeah I remember the UK scene pretty well (although still only a teen at the tyme).. one comp that did it for me was "Garage Goodies Vol 1" put out by the above mentioned Mike Spencer .
tracks by Surfadelics, X-Men ,Jailbirds ,Commuters (Bubble Car, brill), Change Lings, Legendary Vegetarians (did he make this stuff up?),Creepshow (Tilt A Whirl),Bad Karma Beckons, The Cannibals(Spencers band, whom were total TRASH, Yeah),Killed in Action (Vietnam, hillarious),Sting Rays(of course),Vertex,Milkshakes, Nips (Shane McGowans 1st band), Spots (Legalise Cannabis Campain,Sex Pistols On Tour) & finally The Codine Cowbys with Hoo Doo Man!
Si mon
WERE'NT THE SURFADELICS THE CANNIBALS IN DISGUISE? WRECKLESS ERIC SAID HE ALMOST JOINED A BAND WITH AN AMERICAN SINGER THAT WERE DOING STANDELLS , CHOCOLATE WATCHBAND , ETC. I ASKED , BY CHANCE , IF THIS WAS MIKE SPENSER HE WAS REFERRING TO.HE SAID , "YEAH. HOW'D YOU KNOW?" ...I ASKED IF THIS WAS BEFORE OR AFTER SPENCER'S BRIEF STINT IN THE COUNT BISHOPS . HE SAID , "mIKE SPENCER WAS IN THE COUNT BISHOPS?"

I played in The Surfadelics in the mid-80s in London (not to be confused with the later, Italian band!) There was a big garage scene at the time, centered around the Clarendon at Hammersmith. I remember The Milkshakes, The Cannibals, Treatment (psychedelic)
Share your fave songs, at least 20 minutes long. :-)
WHAT WAS THE LONGEST BOGIE EVER PRODUCED ? YES , RIK FROM SCUMBAG U.?

I got the horn whilst playing with my Mayan Calender and it took them 3 hours to remove it up at the local hospital... I missed all the fireworks but someone left a Time Magazine with Sarah Palin on the front of it in the cubicles so it wasn't all bad... Previous to all of this I manageried to stretch a very long piece of snot all the way from last years door handle and droop it directly onto this years computer screen ... Dolly said it was probably a new world's record being that it would in real terms most likely be classified as a year long snot ...did you know that 2012 is "The Year of the C*nts" ?
John Battles said:I've got that Derek and Clive LP with the sick ass cover (As seen below.) . It's shameful that my countrymen will never know how funny Dudley Moore once was.
"OH , GAWD ! WHEN I SAW DUDLEY MOORE , LYING IN STATE. IT GAVE ME THE HORN !!"
"Gave me the 'orn. Worrabout Peter Cook , then ?"
"OH , GAWD ! ROGER FUCKIN' NELLIE , VOICED BY PETER COOK , GAVE ME THE FUCKIN'
' ORN !!!".
I REMEMBER ASKING PEOPLE AT SCHOOL WHAT THEY THOUGHT ABOUT ONE OF THE BEST DARK COMEDIES OF THE 80's , "NEIGHBORS" . WITHOUT FAIL , THEY'D SAY , "THAT WAS STOOPID ! "ARTHUR" WAS GREAT !!!".
BRY , I KEEP FORGETTING HIS NAME , OLD HEDGEHOG - FACE , WHO CALLED THE DOLLS "mock rock" on ogwt.

OF COURSE , I SEE YOUR POINT. Sadly The REAL KIDS DID'NT GET TO PLAY NORTONPALOOZA , I heard John Felice has Corporal Tunnel Syndrome.
How many original , surviving members would have played , or will , if they ever gig again , I don't know. I saw them once with John and Howie , and once or twice with John and later member , Billy Cole , is that his name? They always KILLED , EVEN ONCE WITH A PICKUP DRUMMER.

There are lots of bands still playing out with members in their 50s and up. The Fuzztones, D.O.A., The Cynics, The Fleshtones, The Chesterfield Kings... I'd bet all those guys are in their 50s. Nikki Corvette is still rockin', too. Take a look at the lineup for the recent Norton Records fest... The Real Kids (they ain't kids anymore!), the Great Gaylord, Andre Williams, The Sonics, ? and the Mysterians, Randy Fuller (Bobby's brother), Flamin Groovies, etc.
I tend to like vintage Kay, Silvertone, Danelectro guitars and amps (even though the new Danelectro stuff is very cool); Gold foil pickups, 15 to 30 watt tube combos, tube compressor pedal, gritty overdrive tone as opposed to staticy distortion; small drum kit, etc. to get a garage-y tone. Oh, and be sure not to spend a ton of money on this stuff. With a little bit of searching, you can find this stuff fairly cheap (buy used on Craigslist or stake out pawn shops).
Great label. They're supposed to start running a banner ad here, but I think Bazooka Joe was having some problems figuring out how to make the ad. :/
Damn! Thanks for posting this, guys!
Oh man. There are so many. But if I absolutely... positively... had to choose one I would have to say that I like the screaming sounds of Ralph Nielson and the Chancellors doing... you know... SCREAM!

Okay then it's AckAckACKACK http://youtu.be/LpwvQCPapjU
...."I'm a Chollo" by The Dickies is even shorter than that. I used to use that , or a Minutemen song ,if Ihad about 45 seconds left on a mix tape.
Pretty cool. I was an Elvis From Hell in another life. My backing band refused to play Rockabilly.

Playlist for Jan 12/2012
1. Osterberg....London Eats Its Own...from the 10" approx mid 90's maybe. Title is so perfect for London and coincidentally, London's theme song was released the same day...total coincidence. BTW, London's theme song sounds like castrato male warbling ala Styx/Rush or any of those other high pitched male vocal holdouts from the dinosaur age. Osterberg is the real deal jack!
2. NRBQ...Me and the Boys...from the Tiddly Winks LP and goes out to drummer Tom Ardolino who passed away earlier this week.
3. NRBQ...12 Bar Blues...from the Grooves In Orbit LP. Is it a parody of the 12 bar blues, or just a really cool rock'n'roll tune?
4. Deadly Hearts... The Wobble...from their self titled debut CD and from Halifax.
5. The Cozyrs...Alone In A Crowd of 1000's...from the Get Real Amigo CD which you can download for free.
6. UIC...Bomb Boys...from the Our Garage LP and goes out to guitarist Ted who has finally joined facebook.
7. UIC...New Race...from the Live Like 90 LP on OG Records.

9. UIC...Pushed Into The Hole...from the Wiseman Sessions unreleased CD....after playing 4 UIC songs in a row, i feel much better and hope you do too!

11. Greasemarks...Greasemark Boogie...from a demo CD from about 2 years ago and they will be playing at The Victoria Tavern tonight.
12. The Blasters...Marie Marie...from the Teenage Cruisers LP from 1980. The soundtrack for a rockabilly porno movie from about 1980....love them greasy pompadoured dicks!!!
13. The Hypnotics...Here She Comes Now...from the Static Fuzz Radio CD and from Windsor Ontario as is the next band.
14. High Mother...Dead City...from the Gotta Get Love CD.

18. The Ballantynes...The Rail Town Abbey...a 7" on La Ti Da Records that just came out and features former Tranzmitor Jarrod on keys/vocals/etc.
19. The Bloody 5...New York City...not yet released, this is obviously a cover of The Demics anthem from 1979. Only the 2nd time ever to be given radio play, these youngsters speed it up and belt it out.
20. The Maxines...Sweet Nothins...from a 7" on La Ti Da Records and a 2 piece outta Olympia Washington.
21. The Marshmallow Overcoat...ESP...from The Complete Sound 6 CD box set.
22. The Diodes...Time Damage...recorded live at Call The Office here in London Ontario 11/18/11.
23. NFG...Hyjack Victim....live somewhere in 79 or 80. Thanx to bass player Bob Glidden for this recording.
24. The Animals...Shake...from the Animalism LP and in glorious mono.
25. The Animals...Baby Let Me Take You Home...from the double Animals Anthology LP, a stereo version released in the early 80's.
26. The Animals...Rock Me Baby...from the Animalism LP. Had to cut this one short as the other host wasn't quite ready to start their show.
27. Edgar Breau...Dandelion Kingdom...from the just released Patches Of Blue CD. Edgar is the vocalist/guitarist/songwriter for Simply Saucer and this is his 2nd solo CD. It arrived in the post just as i was heading to the station to do this show.
