no song should be banned. that's my opinion.

It used to happen a lot in the '50s & '60s, but not so much since then. I find it funny that Link Wray's "Rumble" was banned simply because people feared it would lead to increased street violence and gang wars, even though it's an instrumental!

Coincidence, I was going to mention them too. Saw Playn Jayn live and they were excellent, still listen to both LPs which are well worth picking up. They turn up fairly frequently on eBay and are never expensive.

Mudhoney were ok but what  Leonardo said about The Kreuzen is totaly my point of view.I saw The Kreuzen end of the 80ies in a VERY small club in St.Pauli(Hamburg)-JESUS it was incredible....there were about 25 to 50 people(sold out!!!!!!!!!!) and these guye played a kind of music I never heard till this day-and I hear lots of differend stuff!!!!

I think SKIN YARD is a superb band,just here "PSYCHORIFLEPOWERHYPNOTIZED"-pure mania,even the cover of the single.GREAT!!!

But it`s very hard to define what "Grunge" is-I don`t think in those categories,because everyone has another definition of music.Some say "Soundgarden" or "A.I.C" is grunge-for me it`s just ROCK from Seattle.

We'd definitely be down for that in August if you need a lot of heads up time!
Maybe do a two night thing where we just pop in at whatwave on thursday, play grooves, then the next day we hit up brennan's.

And Brennan's Beer Bistro is right next door, so you can work out an all ages gig there for the same day...you get the door at this place. Plus you have to do all of your own promo and have a door person.

Actually I agree somewhat about the Rick Rubin stuff. There were some jewels there, but, especially in the later volumes, there was lots of snooze. (One of the worst things he ever recorded was "Bridge Over Troubled Water" with Fiona Apple. Barf!)

And I liked his original recording of the old murder ballad "Deliah" back in the 60s a lot more than the unplugged 90s version with the Kate Moss video.

Really dig these guys myself, ESPECIALLY Roger Miller! And who can argue on your Cash claim? I especially love his '50's rockabilly and '60's tunes. Early '70's were fine, but after that, I didn't have too much of an interest in his musical career. And I may ruffle feathers here, but I just wasn't a fan of his "American" series of recordings produced by Rick Rubin. I'm not saying they're bad, it's just a matter of personal taste. So many people seem to they were the greatest albums of his career, and maybe they are, and I'm just missing something?

If it interests anyone, I am going to be deleting the "Hayride" Facebook page and posting anything related to that show on my "40 Oz. Nonsense" page. It would just be easier to keep anything podcast related all under one roof, rather than give me one more thing to have to worry about maintaining and keeping updated. I already do that with the Twitter account anyway, so it only makes sense.

If I remember right, Red Sovine co-sang that...Speaking of which, Red could really do some honky tonk singin' pre-"Teddy Bear" era (In other words, before most of his albums became just storytelling set to music).
