    • Let's not forget the multitude of Asian bands (or band members), too. There are also a lot of great Latin American bands & garage/punk music fans... Brazil, Argentina, Chile, etc. Here's another one: Davila 666

    • Hi! that's a pretty interesting theme. There's a documentary about this phenomenon (it rather deals with US hardcore punk, but still...) called "Afro Punk": http://www.afropunk.com/. It's worth checking out. Cheers, Doc Sanchez

    • 1st: I don't believe in Race
      (what a fucked-up word-invention ... we're humans - and that's that!)
2nd: If you do believe that races exist, here's a translation of my oppinion for you:
I'm a racist - I hate the race of assholes - and it has any colour!

AND NOW (after clearing out the shit) - WHAT'S THIS THREAD REALLY ABOUT:

After 25 years of enjoing Garagepunk & goin' to Gigs, I realized, that (at least here in Europe) the Garagepunk-Band-Scene is very mono-coloured & pale ...
and again: no - I don't believe in race (read 1 & 2 again, if you don't dig it).
The Garagepunk-Band-Scene is basically pale-skinned ... why is that?
Is this a Garagepunk-Phenomena, or is it just my unknowledgeful blindness?

I'm gonna list the bands that come to my mind, being of many colours & nations (and I'm not listing souly 70ies bands like "Sly&the Family Stone" or punkish 80ies Bands like the "Bad Brains", but really the Garagepunk-shit) ...

I'd be thankful to all of you, to list others
& show that the Garagepunk you listen to is not "for-white-kids-only"

So here's my list, and please expand it!

      - Love
      - Can
      - The Morlocks
      - The Dirtbombs
      - King Khan

    • Found out this band (Garage Shock) are named thus because they play covers of '90s Estrus bands. It's their schtick, so to speak. I invited them to check out the Hideout, too. And yeah, Estrus is no more. Still in business for mailorder, I believe, but not releasing anything new. I think the last two things Dave Crider put out were the "Death By Unga-Bunga" LP by the Mummies and a DT's record. Think that was in 2004 or 2005. Meanwhile, I still haven't found any Drags or Horrors live footage, but I'm sure some exists... somewhere. Jamie Christiansen said:

I went to a Garage Shock a few years back, I don't remember which number. It was at Emo's in Austin TX and it was a great time. The Von Zippers, Gasoline, The Immortal Lee County Killers (v1), The Cherry Valance, Fatal Flying Guillotines, that band that Mark Arm was/is in, think it's called The Monkeywrench...lots of other bands as well. It was a great time. All put on by Estrus Records (are they out of business now?)

Keep it punk and leave the politics to the English and they can fuck that up too.

    • Whoa! A bit off there mate. Say wot you want about men at work, the'yre shit. But Steve Irwine did more for animal protection and conservation worldwide than many other so called groups and organisations who have money at theyre heart. in Britain we have David Attenborough who if he was'nt a worldwide spokesperson for animals and mans existence we would be in a very very sad bad state. The problem with Australia and America is that it was colonated by fuckwit nations that killed first and asked questions later, hence the mass extinctions and worlwide climate fuck up man has and still does perpetuate. He left a very wonderfull family who keep his inexhaustable work going. if it was'nt for people like Steve Irwine, the planet would be right royally fucked! Think about yer crass statements before you write mate! Don't want this to turn into a political debate but that was a stupid fuckin standpoint from ya!
