    •  I heard they are . I'm really not a fan of that Two Tone era stuff , anymore . Don't mind the Selecter , but , don't let that prejudice you.....It's just Dave Wakeling from the original band , but , you probably know that. I've heard they're very good.

O wow, they were at Berbati's Pan (the former?) about 2 years ago and I missed them. English Beat is gonna be at the Wonder Ballroom this Easter Sunday.  Wonder if they're still sounding any good.

    • Yes, those were covers as well of the bands you mentioned.  Just thought it was odd that whoever made the list credited some covers but not others.  BTW, Wild Thing was more akin to Hendrix' version in style.

Was "Reverberation" the 13th Floor Elevators' tune? "Whatcha Gonna Do" the Small Faces'? "Before You Accuse Me" Bo Diddley's? Just curious... ;)

Funny how the list maker didn't identify Wild Thing as a Trogg's cover.

We went and it was a great time. Opening band was Headless Horsemen who also sounded great for not having played together in a number of years.  Was it worth the $65 tickets?  We'd say YES!  We did say NO, however, to the overpriced t-shirts and posters.

    • Kopper , I just now saw one clip on you tube , which sounded great , of "Need Me". There's several clips up , now. "Reverberation" could only be The Elevators' classic , as Gibbons has always credited them as a huge influnce on The Moving Sidewalks' sound . Plus , ZZ Top did it on "Where The Pyramid Meets The Eye" , one of the only tracks on that , well intentioned , comp that I can stomach......AND , Billy has sat in with Roky, every chance he could , in recent years , and he looked , to me , like he was having too much fun NOT to attempt a Moving Sidewalks' reunion. They probably did "Before You Accuse Me" , the Bo Diddley classic , because it was a staple in The Elevators' and Roky's solo live set , and because Billy is rumored to like him some Blues. But , "What you Gonna Do" (sic) is a M.S. original.

    • Besides Barfly (mentioned in the first post above), I've just found a cool li'l tool to hunt beer:

      Taplister

Just type in a beer, neighborhood, bar, and zip! you've got information. When a bar pops up, you can check out all of the taps it offers.

And I just found out there's a free app for yr iPhone, too!

      Sweet!

    • The No. 4 bus line—which runs from St. Johns south down North Mississippi Avenue and into downtown then over the Hawthorne Bridge and down Northeast Division Street to downtown Gresham—connects every major taproom in the city.

The No. 4 generally went through the “poor minority” strips. The transit agencies of the past would do that because it made it possible for more people to ride. Remember, most of these lines were designed 100 years ago, and the agencies had to work around the often perverse limitations of discrimination. To simplify the history dramatically, the “poor” areas generally are ripe for musicians and artists, which then make an area popular. Thus Mississippi and Division are now gentrified areas attracting higher-income people who want premium beer bars. It’s kind of weird how interconnected those trends are, but there you have it.

    • Here's the 2013 Willamette Week Beer Guide, it's really well-done. Their no.1 beer is a Belgian-style Saison, not even one of the super-hoppy IPAs!

The past few years have seen the beer scene here explode! Now there are 1 (or More!) micro-pubs in the small towns outside of PDX (Gresham, Hillsboro, and Beaverton).

Outside of Portland, there's a little brewery in Eastern Oregon (over the mountains) named Barley Brown's that won 4 medals at the GABF. It's a pepper beer, made w/ jalapenos and the newly-popular Citra hops that the reviewers loved.

And there are at least 3 Belgian ales being made here, a sign that we're moving on from Uber-hoppy beers (About time! I love a good hoppy beer in the summer, but my favorite styles are London-style porters and Belgians.).

We also have cider-houses Out-Cider and Bushwhacker

      and distilleries Distillery Row.

    • Hello to all!

Our band's practice space is shared by a good group of people in Peabody, Massachusetts.  One of those people is named Aviv.  He recorded our band right in our studio (pretty much all live - vocals were done afterward @__@).  If there's anyone looking to get some recordings done - Aviv is a good guy to go to.  Inexpensive and affordable - when compared to some of the crumbs I've had the displeasure of dealing with/hearing about.

For an example of the recording quality - check this out thelittlerichards.bandcamp.com

Contact us on here or through our facebook page if you're interested and we'll pass the word along to our pal.
