    • i saw The Plimsouls in Dallas , once , in 1981. I was still in High School , it was a then - rare All Ages show. The headliner was Split Enz (Who had to leave after one song , because of a sudden thunderstorm (Outdoor venue , dontcha know..).Robin Lane and The Chartbusters and local faves , The Telefones , played , too.

I was quite impressed with The Plimsouls , at the time....But not enough to pay over 25 dollars to see them the next time I had the chance , but , that's just me. I thought Case looked a lot like Doug Sahm on stage.

    • September 18, 2014 2:49 AM CDT
    • I've seen him solo several times and with the Plimsouls twice.

Last time I saw him, in Los Alamos, NM 3 or 4 years ago, he was fantastic. It was soon after he'd released his album Wig, which was a rocker. It was just him and a drummer ( local guy, Baird Banner) Far more rocking than the other solo shows I've seen.

    • September 13, 2014 2:04 PM CDT
    • I have a chance to see Peter Case live in the next week or so.  I'm a big Plimsouls and Nerves (Peter was in both) fan but realize Peter has been doing the solo thing for many years.

Has anybody seen Peter live recently to give me some kind of idea as what to expect? From what i can figure out, it's just him and his guitar, and i'm not really a big fan of the singer/songwriter thing. Unless of course he tossed in a coupla Plimsouls tunes or something like that, which would probably make it all right.

      thanx

      dave

    • This was a great interview.  Ty is super humble, and very genuine.  Also, I think I own pretty much all the records he recommended, so I feel like a music genius.

    • Love Marc Maron and Ty Segall, and this episode was great. My favorite episodes are the ones where Marc talks rock n' roll, and Ty seems like a solid dude. The Iggy ep was my other favorite. Marc should totally make an album...I bet it would either be Tom Waitsy or super power pop-ish...or both...I duno..collabo between Marc and tons of his legendary/amazing musical guests?? A guy can dream...

    • Boy , I fronted some "Arrors" , too. Sorry. Merrill's band , briefly popular in England and Western Europe , was called Arrows. And ,there's no "e" in outfit.

    • New Monster Attack Team magazine - Monsters , giant robots , and Rock 'n'Roll - out soon !

Working on getting a link , but , until then , you can check out the website and the Face Book page , both accessible on Google under "Monster Attack Team''.

THE NEW ISSUE , #11 , IS SLATED TO FEATURE VARIOUS ULTRAMEN FROM OVER THE YEARS , THE NEW KAMEN RIDER (AKA Masked Rider.)TV SHOW , AND A SUPER - SPECIAL EVENT ORGANIZED BY EDDIE HOLLAND , MY FRIEND OF NEARLY 3O YEARS AND U.S. NAVAL MAN , THE FIRST ACTUAL SCREENING OF THE NEW "GODZILLA " MOVIE IN JAPAN , FOR AMERICAN SERVICEMEN STATIONED IN JAPAN ,WITH HONORED GUEST , HARUO NAKAJIMA , FIRST MAN TO PLAY GODZILLA , A POSITION HE HELD FOR 30 YEARS.

It will also feature a revised version of my article on Japanese Group Sound music that originally appeared in Roctober magazine. The article covers an extremely rare American appearance by three surviving members of The Golden Cups (One of Japan's top mid - late 60's groups.) and Allan Merrill , American Musician based in Japan in the late 60's - mid 70's. He played in the well , dynamite , Group Sound outfite , The Dynamites , Japan's first Glam Rock band , Vodka Collins , before relocating to England , where he fronted Arrors , with whom you bet your ass he wrote and recorded the original "I Love Rock'n'Roll" in 1975. Holland assures readers that mine was the only in - depth overview of the Group Sound Scene since Riolling Stone covered the waning days of the movement in '69 , though , to be fair , there was an article in "Freakbeat , U.S.A." ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO.

Well , if you dig this stuff , please check out the Face Book Page and the website. Great stuff awaits your perusal.              John Battles.

    • Years ago, there were some Billy Childish podcasts here on the GPPN.  Radioblivion #41 comes to mind, although I know there were a couple others.

    • September 15, 2014 2:24 PM CDT
    • It is a live radio show.  My next show will be on Saturday September 27th from 1:00-3:00PM EST.  Sorry, but the shows are not yet archived.

    • Hey, found this googling the name of the band, haha. Is that a podcast or a radio show? Is it available online?

The correct name of the Evil Idols track is Last Call. "Missed it All" was actually a "provisory" name and that's a bit weird, hehe.
