In Vancouver we have plenty o' fuzz kicking out the jams, splintered among the various cliques that we're so famous for:

The Fiends: carrying on with a female vocalist

Vicious Cycles: motorcycles n hot rods

Los Furios: arguably the best ska band in the PNW

Dead Ghosts: doing the current trend of reverb-drenched, washed-out indecipherable noise

East Van Playboys: play the classics

The Living Deadbeats: doing our own thang

D.B. Buxton: channeling Roky and JB together in a parallel universe

The Tranzmitors: powerpoppin' like it's 1979

      The Hathaways

... and a few more that I can't think of right now.

In Windsor Ontario there's a hardcore and punk scene that's sort of coming to life. Metal is dieing off sorta. as for garage we got Raised by Weeds and The Hypnotics.

Yes, Les Breastfeeders are still around. But their guitarist quit so they don't play live show these days. In Montreal there is also that new girls band called Hand Cream. They are really slits/raincoats influenced. Check them out, they have potential. Also, Les Sexareenos have started to do shows again, so that's kind of amazing. Everybody Sexareeeeeeeeeeeno!

Besides ourselves? Well, my favourites are Los Franco Neros, they're pretty cool. Besides that, metal and reggae kinda took over - not bad, but also not so much my cup of tea...

J'etaime Le Pere Bloodshot Bill , and , Hell , he does'nt even live here !

I'm out of the loop. The weather's been shitty (Tho , mild for a Chicago winter , I grant you.) , and The CTA  is slower than ever....I recently saw Tutu and The Pirates and The Mentally Ill do a bill together. Everyone came to see Tutu (Popular late 70's  comical Punk Band) , but  , while they were GOOD , just predictable , I thought The Mentally Ill blew them off the stage (Figuratively.) . Mentally Ill were based in Deerfield , Ill. , released two singles ("Gacy's Place " being their calling card.) , and did their very first gig almost 30 years after forming (The C*nts , arguably  Chicago's first Garage revisionist group , kept a comparably low profile for years , as well.)....

There's a lot of stuff happenin' in Montreal right now.

There's Bloodshot Bill, Jimmy Target & The Triggers (garage/surf), Sonic Avenues (power pop), Grand Trine (not really good live, tho), but my current favorite is Le Kid et les Marinellis. Awesome garage in french.

Also in St. Louis, the Nevermores have a new LP coming out on vinyl very soon... I posted this video in the Video section recently (it's just a promo vid, nothing special, but the song is very cool!):
