How is this for a mega mini-festival?
Oh yeah! GREAT show... worth going over to a very wet Melbourne from Adelaide, fer sure!
Totally agree with the sentiments about the Sonics... cool seeing the 5678s coming onstage to dance near the end (they were great too... though I heard they had a bad night in Sydney... it happens!)
We didn't get the Sunnyboys unfortunately, but the locals did us proud... Hard-Ons, Lovetones, Murlocks, Beaches, Frowning Clouds, Royal Headache et al
One fave thing was the Steve Wynn set with a fourpiece line-up rather than just the 'acoustic duo' advertised... did lotsa Dream Syndicate stuff and ROCKED!!!!
Nah, it was an excellent day out... hope there are more... and that next time it comes to Adelaide! It would have gone down a storm here! Mind you, reports on the limited line-up here (Sonics, Hard-Ons, Gurus) say it was a brilliant show and that the Sonics just BLEW everyone away!!
YEah being a long-time Red Kross fan, really enjoyed their set. The emotional favourite for me was the Sunnyboys, though. First saw them at NSW Uni in 1980 and it brought back those early days, they were in fine form.
And the Sonics were incredible, really great energy, putting guys half or quarter their age to shame. So great to hear all those classic songs!

Flew down from the Gold Coast for this. What a weekend of pure rock n roll. X on the Friday Night was a fine night (though a few too many beers were had).
Fleshtones were great. I have never seen a band do a human pyramid & just in the first song, the set was fun. A fantastic way to start the day (missed the Hard-Ons). Kinds In Dust aka The Sunnyboys, a joy to watch, fine performance. Redd Kross stole the show for me, high energy & the McDonald Brothers are just over grown teenagers, great. The Sonics, what can you say? I was estatic to see them & did not dissappoint even with the mid song meltdown on "Strychnine". Such a great performance, I couldn't stop grinning.
Possibly the most fun I've had at a show. My back & legs were killing at the end of the evening but it was all worth it for the pure joy & hearing some fantastic rock n roll.
Thanks for the link :-)

Highlights were definitely the Sunnyboys and the Sonics - amazing!

Yeah I am really happy that the Hoodoo Gurus did this (I believe it was their idea). Hope it goes really well and we see some more like it ...
I heard Brisbane has sold out now ....
Oh yeah... never thought I'd see the Sonics!!!
And so... we bit the bullet! We're going over to Melbourne... the tickets arrived the other day... just too good to miss out on!
What a GREAT lineup!
And even apart from the headliners, we're hanging to see Beaches and the Frowning Clouds and the Lovetones... and if the Gurus are sticking to the early stuff, well....
It's the best one-day concert/festival/whatever I can think of since.... I dunno... the Anti-Nazi Rally in London with the Clash and the Damned etc etc! maybe?
Sure makes up for this year's dud Laneway/BDO/[name your festival here!]
It's basically garage/punk/psych heaven!
Woo Hoo!
Presale is on now - http://digitup.net.au/
Cool, Rodney Todd will be doin' comedy ..hehehe. Check out his band The Escapes :-)
Weeeeelll, at least it's driveable. I'd def. being going to Sydney if I lived in Canberra! You'll have to give us a review of the Sydney event.

I'm gonna end up forking out big time to go to the Sydney event, but it will be worth it!

All the tour agencies are on the east coast and so we don't exist!
But I having said that........ can't wait to see the Sonics!!!!!!

Yuppers. Damnit, yeah, well, Sonics, oh yes indeed.
Still, missing out on the Fleshtones just sucks. *sigh*

I am interested in seeing some of the other local acts too here in Sydney like Royal Headache (who I hear played Gonerfest recently and have heard good things about), and the Straight Arrows. Also Frowning Clouds, who I have been remiss in not seeing before.

... The Fleshtones? Really?
....
Hehehe yeah it IS pretty big! I am really looking forward to this, have registered for the pre-sale.
Wow that's a bummer, but there must be more on the bill, or are they not doing the 3 venue thing there?
So vibed, saw Steve Mcdonald play with Off! here recently - who were amazing BTW.
I played a show with Hoodoo Gurus and Red Kross in a large venue here back in '94, those two bands alone were a great team-up, I can't wait to see that again ...
Jeez! Waddayamean howzat for a 'mini' festival. What's that 11 bands? Not exactly mini. The Fleshtones? Really?
It's only the Hoodoos and The Sonics listed for Adelaide. Damn.
