The Cramp-themed BORN BAD 1-5 is probably my favorite compilation series, though many of the tracks have subsequently been issued with upgraded sound. The packaging and liner notes haven't been surpassed, even by the ROCKIN' BONES box. Getting each gatefold BORN BAD lp as it was released was an education for me.

More recently, THE CRAMPS’ JUKEBOX CD is a knockout mix of late 50s rockabilly, pre-surf instrumentals, stripper music, R&B, and exotica.

Most of these I already have, but I just thought I'd mention them here as my favorites.

"All The Stuff And More," Volumes One and Two, by the Ramones.

"Up And Around The Bend:  Definitive Collection," by Hanoi Rocks.

      "20th Century Boy," by T-Rex.

"Gems"  by Aerosmith (I used to have a cassette tape, and lately I've been meaning to get the CD).

"Nuggets" and "Children of Nuggets" boxed sets.

"Wide Awake In The Spirit World" by Outrageous Cherry.

      "Sweet Originals" by the Sweet.

"Barbarella Girl God" by the Chevelles.

For some unknown reason I tend to only buy industrial compilations, and I prefer to get my punk in band releases. Thanks for bringing a previously unreflected-on idiosyncrasy to my attention. So yeah, Endzeit Bunkertracks: expensive, but I buy each one on release.

Is "Garage Beat '66" considered a standard yet? That series and "Back from the Grave" get the best stuff out.

"Psychedelic States" is hit or miss, and for whatever reason, whenever I find them in a shop, the discs are in really shit quality, even if they're still wrapped.

"Don't Press Your Luck: The In-Sound from Connecticut" and "We're Gonna Change the World!" are my two favorite regionals. I hate to sound like a Sundazed fanboy, but hell, I am. Oh well.

Oh! "Ft. Worth Teen Scene!" Classics, all!

      Agreed, there are a ton,
but a couple that quickly comes to mind:
Greasy Rock n' Roll (multiple volumes),
also the Lux and Ivy Favorites (multiple volumes),
Cacophony Records put out a pretty good one about 12 years ago called Ultra Swank,
those Sympathetic Sounds discs that Sympathy for the Record Industry did are kinda cool (esp the Detroit issue)...

Hard to compare comps with >= 3 volumes to those single volume versions.  On the single vol. version; Hang it out to Dry (how could it not be great with Lily on it) and I Was a Teenage Caveman excel.  But there are so many good ones that is almost worth starting a list for the comps that just don't deliver......although the Chosen Few from the aforementioned list drew my attention because never heard before -  thanks, now I must find or cannot sleep.

Finally, I am a fan of all regional comps because you get a good local history lesson while listening.  Just about anything Texas is worth a listen.

All three volumes of the "Songs the Cramps Taught Us" are really great. The "Ft. Worth Teen Scene" comps on Norton are also pretty amazing. I'll also throw in the early volumes of "Sin Alley" and "Desperate Rock'n'Roll." And, if you can find it, get the double-CD version of the "Madness Invasion" comp. There are SO many more, too. We're just crackin' the surface with these, but it's a place to start.

I thought BACK FROM THE GRAVE, TEENAGE SHUTDOWN and PEBBLES were a given. Very very essential.

The Chosen Few Vol. 1 & 2 are really hot comps.

Can't believe no one's mentioned BACK FROM THE GRAVE or TEENAGE SHUTDOWN yet!! Hell, PEBBLES, too, for that matter. All of those are essential.

I've always had a soft spot for the 'Streets' comp. on Beggars Banquet from the late 70's. Quality.
