    • Kopper - This is the issue I've been having while using Firefox. We talked about it briefly at the baseball game.(See screenshot.)

      Thanks,

    • Won't let me sign in if I check the Remember Me box and kicks me out after navigating through a few pages.
Using IE 10 (don't judge me!).

I have no idea what the message about the token is, yet. I'll do my googling and see what I can find out.

I get the "No token..." message, but I just hit "save changes" a second time and it goes through. I haven't actually changed anything, just another click and it seems to accept it. I haven't used any special characters in a blog title yet.

One other strange thing I've noticed with blogs that I'm subscribed to: when a new blog entry is posted, I get 8-10 notifications for it, one right after the other. Any idea what's happening? It seems to do it for any new post on a blog I'm subscribed to. Like this:

    • Hmmmmm. MAYBE special characters aren't allowed or are disabled. That's actually super helpful. Thanks a bajillion for that tidbit.

    • Thank you Jane.

I use Chrome and the error message disappeared when I changed the blog title from "The HOWD #33" to "The HOWD episode 33". Not sure if that could help...

What is that ? That just happened to me too while I was trying to post a new blog...

I just changed the blog title and no more error message...but I'd like to understand.

Oh and please, could some smart person explain to me how to add some media (the mevio player in fact) in a blog entry ?

      Thanks.

To embed the Mevio player in a blog post, just use the insert/edit embedded media button and use the "Source" tab and paste the embed code in there. Then hit "Insert."

    • I just took a look at all of the new members who have signed up in the past couple weeks but who had not yet verified their email addresses, and most of them are using Hotmail email addresses. There were a couple of live.com ones and one gmx.de, too. So, I tink it's safe to say that if you have a Hotmail email address, you probably will NOT get any email notifications from this site, and that's not good. We would highly recommend using Gmail or another private email server instead, if you can. Apparently this is not an ucommon thing with Hotmail/Outlook, so who knows what other important emails you may not be receiving.

    • August 20, 2013 3:21 PM CDT
    • Apparently Hotmail does not like emails that are originating from GaragePunk.com. Frankly, I was really surprised to see so many people still using Hotmail in the first place! Anyway, it's not that emails from the site might be getting filtered into your junk/spam folders; it's that Hotmail is apparently BLOCKING all of our emails. This may not happen if you manually add hideout@garagepunk.com to your Hotmail address book; I'm just not sure. But one thing is certain: If you use Hotmail, you're probably not going to get email notifications or password resets/verification emails like you should. We highly recommend everyone with a Hotmail account switch to Gmail, or another more reliable email provider.

Please understand that this is not a problem on our end, or with Social Engine. We've confirmed that the emails are being sent out; they're just not always getting to where they're supposed to go. I have reported the issue to our Web host, but we're not sure how long it might take them to clear this up (if ever!).

You may also notice this problem with Yahoo, Live.com, AOL, and who knows what else. Just know that if you for some reason do not get your password reset or verification emails within at least 24 hours, that you may want to consider switching. Most likely your email provider is blocking us.

Sorry for the trouble, but we felt it important enough to let everyone know.

      Thanks,

      kopper

    • Well, you're not alone.

But, it's as fast as it's gonna get right now. But it doesn't have to stay that way...

We've got the VPS (Virtual Private Server) memory allocation set as high as we can afford to pay for right now (about $70/month). That's as much as our Summer Fund Drive was able to pay for (well, that rate for a year plus the cost of the SocialEngine software and all the plugins). So unless we start selling some banner ads or Hideout comps, we won't be able to increase that at all. Of course, the other option is to continue to take donations from our members, which you can do at any time, would help greatly and would be much appreciated!

      Thanks,

      kopper

      Just few questions:
°Is not possible to send or add a pic (in a message or posting) from the own computer anymore? It ask for a URL but don´t see a way to upload from my mac. Do i have to put pics online first?

°In the older site, while writing anything, i was (automatically) able to see or realize if a single word wasn´t written correct (solecistic?). Is gone now?? :(
°And because i´m not the youngest anymore i admit to have some trouble to write in such small letters! Sure i can change the fontsize AFTER writing something but would be possible to set a bigger font from the beginning?
      Thanks in advance!

I agree that not being able to upload and attach an image in a message (and a couple other places, too, if I remember correctly) is annoying. We'll try to look into that and see about getting the insert/edit image button included in the WYSIWYG box.

I think you're talking about a spellcheck feature for checking word spellings? Maybe Jane could answer that one...

Regarding font size, you can always do what I do and just enlarge the view of your screen. I think on a PC this is done by holding down the Control key and using the scroll wheel on your mouse. On a Mac you can use Command and +/- to adjust the screen view.

Thanx Kopper!! you did find a way for us to upload pics!! Right? I see it at the bottom now! (I guess this LetterSalad-Box is the space where i´m writing right now). As for the font size i guess is ok at moment.

And yes, to check the word spelling would be a big help to me and i guess to some other people too.
Hope Jane can manage or tell me something about :)

Hey, I think I got it figured it out... never worked with these codes before but I'm learning ;) Concerning the music player, I keep getting that same messsge that the Reverend got. I downloaded six songs no problem, but it didn't work after that.

I think you mean you uploaded six songs, right? As far as I know, you shouldn't be able to download any songs from anyone's players...

If you also have a lot of photos that you've uploaded, you may just be encountering the max upload limit (storage quota) for default users that we have currently set at 100 mb. That could be why you guys are getting one of those errors... just a thought. For example, Glenn, I checked your profile and you have 67 photos in your album. That's probably what's happening. Those photos are taking up a lot of your storage quota, not leaving a lot of room for music.

Unfortunately, right now we have to limit this stuff, since the more media that people upload to our server, the larger it needs to be and therefore the higher our hosting bill will be to make it work well for everyone. What we will probably institute in the near future are some paid member levels that will allow you to upload more content, but would help us pay for the increased storage/bandwidth it causes.

The Members Map will be up again?

It was so useful to organize events with local bands

Well, that was a Ning app. Not sure if SocialEngine offers anything similar to it. If they did, we'd probably have to start over from scratch, so even if we installed something like that it wouldn't show anyone on it (at least I don't think it would). Unfortunately that was just something we had to lose with the transition from Ning. But we'll keep it on the radar and if we can find something like that, because it was a pretty cool feature.

Hmmm... that's odd. I thought we had fixed that issue. Guess not. Jane?

I need to look at the core files again. When I made the Forum Posts in chronological order based on creation date, not modified date, it also made the Forum Topics in chronological order based on creation date, not modified date, which was dumb if someone commented on an old thread and it was still stuck several pages back.

SO, basically, what I need to look into, is making sure Forum Posts are chronological, but Forum Topics are based on modified date, so that the ones with the most recent posts show up before the ones with the least recent posts on them.

      Adding it to my list!

    • The Chat module still exists but the first days back open were so laggy with traffic I disabled it. Maybe we can bring it back? It just seemed like it was slowing things down at first.

I'm also playing around with a way to get more forum posts displayed in the home page. It would be awesome if it was a part of the activity feed.
