Radio What Wave Playlist Mar12/2015
This show had an interview with Jonathan Wall of Intrusions and Joe Bonasia of Nobody's Favourite Records record label. And then we added an extra hour to the show, playing Demics live from the Cedar Lounge 1978 (thanx to Keith Wilson for digging this up). For those that don't know, the Demics were London Ontario's first punk combo, heavily influenced by 60's garagepunk/Stooges/Bowie etc.
1. Demics....Heart Of The City....live from The Cedar Lounge 1978.
2. Buzz Deluxe...Contagious...brand new demo. They last appeared as a 2 piece, but after a hiatus, they are back playing live as a 3 piece.
3. Harmonica Lewinsky....Boy On Fire....from their brand new 7" and from Rochester NY.
4. OBGM's....Pill...from their brand new self titled CD and will be playing at CTO in London tonite.
5. OBGM's...I Just Wanna Love...as above, but meant to play Inclusions.
RIght around here we had a phone conversation with Jonathan Wall of Intrusions and talked about their show happening tonite at APK in London. From there, we had the world premier of an Inclusion song that was finished mere hours prior to this radio show.
6. Intrusions....Picture Void....brand new demo
7. Lonesome Ghost....Haunted By God....from a What Wave cassette released on Record Store Day 4/16/2011. Brandon, the drummer for Lonesome Ghost, is now the singer for Intrusions.
8. Excelsior....Undead Fourth Reich....from their recent 7" EP Punk Floyd EP. Another local combo well worth checking out.
9. Earl Vince and The Valiants...Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked in Tonite....from British Archives Volume 4 on RCA Records. The original version of this tune featuring members of Fleetwood Mac.
10. Sister Rosetta Tharpe...Jericho...from the Gospel Train LP. The Godmother of rock'n'roll was born 100 years ago this month.
Right around this time Joe Bonasia came onair to talk about his new record label, Nobody's Favourite Records, that will be releasing some compilation records. Then we played a song by Astoria, a band that Joe just happens to be singer/guitarist for.
11. Astoria....Wake Up Sound...from their self titled debut CD.
12. Torquemadas....Teenage Head...from the compilation LP Positive Vibrations. Not to be confused with the Flamin' Groovies tune of the same name. This set of NZ music goes out to my daughter Rox, who is presently in NZ.
13. The Clean...Billy Two....from the compilation LP Beyond The Southern Cross. My fave tune by this NZ combo.
14. Chris Knox....I Wanna Look Like Darcy Clay...from the Beat CD. Chris is a veteran of many many NZ combos.
15. X....Slash Your Face...from X-Spurts, The 1977 Recordings LP on Ugly Pop Records. This is the Australian X, not to be confused with the US combo of the same name. We'll be having Simon Harvey from Ugly Pop Records on next week's show.
16. X...Hey You.... as above.
17. The Castor Troys....Come Hell Or High Water...from the brand new CD of the same name. Features former Londoner Chris Ledroit on guitar and vocals.

Next week, we've got Simon Harvey on a phoner to talk about Ugly Pop Records and maybe a surprise guest! Also, next week is our last show prior to the London Record Show happening March 22 at Centennial Hall. I'll be at the CHRW table with some local stuff for sale.
