Just sayin' is all. Sorry, when someone mentions New Wave, I want to stick sharp objects into things...

Why do punk rock guys go out with new wave girls? - Great Plains/Ron House
not really a quote per say, but it has come to be one of the most quoted/memorable lyrics I can think of
"Playiing music is the best thing in the world. It makes show business almost bearable."
David Johansen, NYDolls
"Anger is an Energy"- John Lydon, in PIL's Rise
"I believe I am the highest power, absolutely. I am in control at all times. Jesus Christ, God, and Satan all in one"

Iggy (To an older , unbriefed , Canadian TV interviewer...I don't mean he had no drawers on...But , in truth , I don't know if he did !) -
Dork : Tell me about Punk Rock...
Iggy : I'll tell ya about Punk Rock ! Punk Rock is a term used by diletanntes , and heartless manipulators.....about music that takes up the hearts and the souls and the time and the minds of young men who give what they have to it , and they give everything they have to it...I don't know Johnny Rotten , but , I'm sure he puts as much blood and sweat into what he does ....as Sigmund Freud did.
Dork : So , you don't like the term "Punk Rock"?
Iggy : I don't like to hear it coming out of somebody's mouth .
Dork : Fair enough. What do you like to hear it come out of ? (Both laugh).
I'm probably being rough on the other guy , but , he comes off as aware of his subject as Hans Kellar when he made an enormous ASS out of himself , interviewing The Pink Floyd.

MONEY , as well as interest , are two big hurdles to get over.....I agree , it should have been done ,by now....There was a documentary on PBS , hardly all - inclusive , but , done with their hearts in the right places...on the history of American Garage Rock. Very low budget , but , it should've been a rallying point for similar documentaries....It featured Sky Saxon , Jimy Sohns and Joe Kelly (Shadows of Knight) , and was co - hosted by Bun E. Carlos (Once in a Garage band.), and shot in Wisconsin , largely in a flea market.
I think you're right , much like a lot of individual cities' "Scenes" from the Late 70's - Early 80'S are getting the documentary treatment....

Well, to be done right, it would have to be enormously comprehensive. With thousands of garage bands sprouting up all over the world from '65 thru '67, it would be quite a task. The best way to go about it would be to do a series of documentaries and focus on regional scenes, such as Texas, the Pacific Northwest, Michigan, Australia, etc. Sort of like how the later volumes of the Pebbles comps were focused.
Teenage Shutdown, Volume 10
Pebbles, Volume 3
Killed by Death, Volumes 1 & 2
Garage Punk Unknowns
Electric Sugarcube Flashbacks, Volume 1
Killed by Glam, Volumes 1 & 2
My ultimate fave tune under two: Maurice Williams & the Zodiacs "Stay"
Also it's the only song to hit #1 on the US charts recorded in my town over 50 years ago!
"Tight Pants" by The Stooges. Granted , it's the rough draft for "Shake Appeal". It clocks in a Two minutes (Minus the fade at the end) because , like "It Should Be You" by The Rolling Stones , THE ONLY VERSION THAT APPEARS TO EXIST IS CUT OFF DURING THE GUITAR SOLO.
Hey.
1963 Watkins Rapier (Fender Jag is best)
In order:
Jangle Box compressor
Supa-Trem tremolo unit
Tech 21 Character series Blonde
Digitech Digiverb pedal reverb (63 re-issue spring reverb tank is best)
Tech 21 PE60 poweramp combo
I certainly get the sound & flexibility with this but single coils & fender amps & a heap of attitude & you can't go far wrong. Cheers.
John, me too rarely spend 1 buck on a 45 these days. But today 20 of my $33 bucks was spent on The Hullabaloos "i won't turn away now" picture sleeve, knocked the antique lady down from 35. Also got a bunch of small label releases including a pretty cool lo-fi primitive "garage?" 45 by a band called The Townsmen You left Me Crying/Friends on Albun. I can find no mention anywhere on the net about it... I love it and hate it when that happens. Another unknown 3rd rate garage beat found.
Also cool doo-wop Arthur Butler -Lock Stock and Barrel (one went for 80)
and this soulster... way cool.
So now I have 6 dollars to spend on Yo Yos.
nO , WAIT , i'M OFF ON MY HEPSTER LINGO....i MEANT 40 DOLLARS....

"Killed THOR and his Ministers , anaesthesia screamed in vain" !
