It would be great if people could actually write some reviews of these records! Post them here:

the new alboum by ty segall is great....
Hello there, everyone!
I'm from Russia, Novgorod, and i'm playing guitar in garagepunk duo called The Zombiecops (http://www.myspace.com/thezombiecops). We finally finished our records session and looking for a label to put on our stuff behind the border. 7inch would be superb, but even cd seems nice.
So, guys and girls, please help me, list the labels of any sizes, which take care of trashy garagepunk (like us, like Persuaders, Reatards, and so on, so on, so on...)
By the way, it should be a great list to explore new stuff, as it seems to me ,)
Bobby Fuller's live version of Miserlou is pretty killer diller. I think it was on the Cowabunga box.
The Trashmen, "The Bird" That's it. lol
Can't be complete without adding some songs by The Atlantics! I won't name a specific song, cause they are all pretty cool.
All these surf bands back in the day were playing and recording the same songs over and over. often in very similar style. But some versions are totally different. I'm gonna make some definition of well chosen surf songs.
Miserlou - Dick Dale, The Surfaris, The Astronauts, The Lively Ones, The Trashmen, The Beach Boys.
Must say Dick Dale is the winner. Most extreme fasted, the piano loop in the end, fucking perfect.
I would say The Surfaris came # 2 but Beach boys lay on the bottom.
Pipeline - The Chantays, The Ventures, The Astronauts, Dick Dale(with Steve Ray Waughn)
The Chantays version is the best version of my opinion but The Ventures take it gently. The version with Dick Dale and the fuckhead Steve Ray Waughn is a disaster.
Baja - Al Casey, The Astronauts, The Lively Ones, Jack Nitzsche
It's a hard one. All versions are amazing but I think The Astronauts have the win.
Batman Theme - Nelson Riddle, Neal Hefti, The Ventures, Link Wray
Also a hard one. But I think The Ventures is the best.
Moon Dawg - The Gamblers, The Ventures, Davie Allan, The Beach Boys, The Surfaris
I like the Davie Allan version most myself but they are all great.
sorry about my gramma. You surfers out there discuss your favourite surf tracks...
You don't need a manual or method. Then everything would sound the same. I think you are going about this the wrong way. Play what you want to play. The key is keeping with a raw and rock n roll sound. It's up to you how to approach that.
You can look around here and see the primitive more punk type bands, the more 60s sound inspired bands and everything inbetween. Doesn't matter if you're into the Ramones, the Cramps, the Sonics, Billy Childish or whatever else. Go with what you think is right, don't let others dictate your sound.
haha right on.

In my humble opinion, the best thing to do is learn the 5-tone blues scale and listen to a lot of Billy Childish....
listen to lots of johnny thunders,ny dolls, ramones, dead boys,mc5,stooges,and the waldos...along with link wray, billy childish, the kinks, chuck berry, and also learn the pentatonic scale.
Garge Punk
Gear/Tone:
Cheap ass Strat Copy, Teisco etc. Fender/Vox/Silvertone/RottenTube amp slightly overdriven, touch or a bunch of reverb.
Fuzz pedals are a good idea...I think generally the raspier the better. Stay away from a fuzz face.
Full chords to me seem much more garage punk so play those. Add some shitty penatonic riffs in there to.
Listen to Billy Childish, The Troggs, The Reatards & any other band rocking out with shitty guitars and body odor.
...just boring in my humble warped opinion...fell asleep before the end...
(Am I mistaking or Sean Spits seemed to be as bored being there as I was, trying to keep my eyes open watching this ???)
Besides, I find it kinda "strange" that the only bands appearing in this pseudo-conference organized by Scion are bands "sponsored" by Scion. Talking about Integrity and Selling Out ? Really ???

Check this out... Integrity and Selling Out in 2010 from the Scion Music(less) Music Conference.
That's the worst! I always keep a notebook in my back pocket for just such an emergency(lets me use downtime at work to put things in the right order, too).
If you've got a cell phone, they almost always have a record function; I've used that before too.

I always wish I had a pocket recorder for those moments when lyrics just start going through my head..unfortunately even if I repeat them over and over I usually forget them before they get written down. I at least get the jist of a song that way sometimes.

Honestly most the songs I've personally written just happen when I'm playing the guitar. I'll find a riff repeat it, then another part comes and there's a song. The words always come when I'm the shower or walking down the street.
I've co-written songs with other people, bouncing ideas of each other when jamming. And again the words come to me in the shower or walking down the street. I've tried sitting down and writing lyrics but I just ended up walking off to have a cigarette and hang out with the dog or listen to some music.

Here's the proper link to the blog post for The Mal Thursday Show #34: The Mean Season, which features the podcast debut of "World's On Fire": http://garagepunk.ning.com/profiles/blogs/the-mal-thursday-show-34-the
Yeah thanks to Mal Thursday, I also got an MP3 from Victoria de Mare from Amazon. If it weren't for these podcasts my music would be a lot more boring.
cool-thanks!
