    • I'd love to throw down on this... I'm pretty handy with final cut / afterFx... I have a ton of high quality trailers and movie clips ripped from DVD that are ready to go - but most of my music vids are downloaded from YouTube and will look like ass if they were compressed again. I have some random Scopitone and old English Beat stuff I got from a buddy - Anyone with lots of Music vids wanna coordinate on this?

    • I don't care who hosts it or does it... in fact, you guys can even take turns if you want, as long as there's some sort of cohesiveness to the format and look or feel of it. I'm interested in seeing what any or all of you can whip up, so by all means keep me posted.

      Thanks!

    • Hmmmm.....This is a very dangerous idea, Kopper. I love it. Steam is already coming out of my ears 'cause I'm thinking too fast. I'll keep you posted. (There goes all of my free time).

    • I would loe to see a video podcast... definitely cannot host one but will be a fan of whoever does host it :)

    • Something like Night Flight would be great. I still search torrent and file sharing sites for anyone who had the foresight to record old episodes and then be motivated enough to convert it to digital. No such luck though. I especially want the "New Wave Theater" shows since those were partly responsible for warping my young mind. So yeah, this is an excellent idea.

No hosts though. Hosts more often than not start to think the show is about them and wind up being lame.

    • I'm into this idea.
      I'm into doing this.
How's about i just make one and see what ya think.

It'd be Toronto-centric though... although I guess it doesn't have to be.

      I'm on it!

    • and btw - I would love to do it - I just don't have any idea how difficult it would be...

    • March 4, 2009 11:59 AM CST
    • Yeah - I've been thinking about this too... I would love a podcast that was a trashed out version of the old USA show Night Flight... B-horror trailers, short video clips, and weirdness all mixed with music videos and live performances...

Maybe even with a ghouly host =)

    • I've been thinking it'd be cool to launch a video podcast on GaragePunk.com. If anyone out there would like to take a stab at hosting, producing, and editing such a show, please get in touch! Post your ideas/comments/thoughts/questions/whatever here if you'd like.

      Thanks,

Well thats the point I am trying to use it, but all these different forum groups is it really needed? some dont see any action for weeks or months, it could be simplified a bit into just 4 or 5 groups, its way too much right now. Just trying to help dude.
Look, I can't help it if no one posts to the group forums. The groups were set up originally in a way that resembled or mirrored the old GP Forums, giving people a way to post about regional stuff as well as have groups for the various different eras of rock'n'roll. Since Ning added the Events section, I've noticed a drop-off in the amount of activity in the regional groups, which is to be expected, but they still get used occasionally and I'd rather have them here than NOT have them. And the number of our groups is actually quite small when you compare this network with Myspace or Facebook, which have a ton dedicated to certain bands, styles of music, you name it. Again, if the groups aren't for you then don't use them. It's as simple as that. *This* forum is a great general discussion area that people can use if they don't want to bother with the groups. What everyone always seems to forget about the old GaragePunk Forums phpBB board was that over the last year of that thing, hardly anyone was using it! Activity on that board dropped considerably as people jumped onto Myspace and posted on the Goner board or elsewhere. Everyone was spread out too thin. The Hideout has actually helped bring people BACK to this site (as well as attract a lot of new members) and the funny thing is I never hear any of them complain about this forum not being as nifty as that one or whatever. They're just happy this thing exists at all.

    • I am very new here but this site looks super cool, I plan to blab away and hopefully inspire others to do the same. There is a lot to learn especially about the very old obscure garage music. I sense a real happnin vibe here ! These podcasts are simply insane! Dig it baby! Derk Von, The Vonz kopper said:

I miss the garagepunk forums as well. Huge wealth of information on there. I learned a lot from it. I hate these social networking sites.
Its kinda what I was thinking, this site is great, but sometimes you just want to see who's playing what records are out and general stuff easily without trying to negotiate a maze, sometimes simple is best, its the garage way!

    • My band has its record being listened to by two US independent labels. One label has seen the band, heard the CD and had email communication, the second label heard good stuff about us, called me and has heard the CD. Both labels seem interested - but what can I do to close the deal - in other words sell the idea of signing the band as if it was their idea?

I don't want my time wasted either - so I'm thinking it's time to ask if there is anything else they need while they listen and propose a deadline for an answer - hoping they respect this approach. Slacking and not following lead leads to no deal - what do I have to lose anyway - just publishing :)

What would you do - basically this is like any other business sales transaction - what is in it for them = profit !

    • I love photographing people who played on great records of yesteryear, and new stuff too. My catalogue of photos has a lot of faces in it. NYC can get pretty "name-droppy" which is annoying, but my favorite recent encounter was a couple glasses of wine with sammy yaffa (formerly of finnish glam outfit hanoi rocks, and currently the bass player for the new york dolls). Also in 2007 I had The Hives hanging out at my pad during Cavestomp, that was fun! Check out this fun photo of Magic Christian too! I definitely heart Cyril Jordan!

    • I have "met" a few at shows in the sense that someone introduced me (or I introduced myself) when we happen to be in proximity to each other. Even had a beer with some. But the only one I have met that would recognize me walking down the street is Earl the Pearl Hudson of Bad Brains. Come to find out, he lives only 2 miles from me. Small world.
