I have used both, I got my first computer in 4th grade, it was a Tandy something...then I got into doing graphics on a PC and it kinda sucked (it was the late 80's) switched to MAC, started working on those, but didn't have one of my own because I couldn't afford one. I made my own computer...it's fast, has about 3tbs of storage, I can customize anything I want and altogether it only cost about 400 bucks. Plus I also use a lot of open source programs and work with coding and design software that sucks when used on a MAC...So I'm a PC lover...

More cashing in on the success of Buck Rogers. Saw this in the cinema when I was a kid. Max Von Sydow played Jesus in TGSET. I'd rather some kid got nerdy about this film, than Star Wars, which is a terible set of films.

This was another attempt at cashing in on the success of "Star Wars."  I just watched it last night on cable, and it's still a lot of fun.

There has to be a few Roger Corman fans around here;)  This is my favorite "Star Wars" derivative.  I liked all of the characters, but I especially liked Nestor.

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. I have two old school phonographs that I got at garage sales for like $4 or something, and they're nice n' loiud and sound great. They play 78s, too.

You might want to look into old school phonographs. My Pops hooked me up with this AGS 3000 32 WATTS of listening pleasure

Behringer VMX 300...not really practical for outdoor BBQ's, but perfect for podcasters.  It's perfect for parties where all my friends can pretty much use it...record our drunken mixes and go home with a souvenir.

I don't really know about 'other countries,' but in the U.S. it's looking increasingly as if Obama's re-election is going to come down to what Merkel and the ECB decides to do in the summer-early fall months.  And that has me pissed and depressed because the GOP seems to be embracing the same myth of austerity that they champion. 

Here, you're apparently not allowed to publicly call for Romney's taxes from his Bain years to be released w/out being called a socialist or class warrior.  Are voters so gullible that they actually believe Mitt's policies will jump-start the job market?  We'll see, I guess, but so far the Obama crowd seems to be afraid of really putting it to him.  In these perilous times, waiting for the convention will be too late.    

I would also say that because of the geographical location Australasia can trade more with Asia which so far has not gone into any stupid currency experiments.

If Germany pulls through this I really think it will be a case similar to how Scotland lost its political independence to England. Country makes stupid financial decisions, goes bankrupt, needs bailout, bailout comes with political unity. Ireland ironically fought and won independence from Britain in 1922 and 90 years later looks like it's going to lose it to the Germans.

I heard on the radio this week that all the major German banks were downgraded. I didn't catch the rest of the story cause I was heading off to work. Apparently over here in New Zealand we're a lot better off than the rest of world, mainly thanks to our close economic ties to Australia, who are also doing a lot better than the rest of world.

As far as I'm concerned the shit's gonna hit the fan big time at some point this year in regard to the world economy.

It really looks like the EU is on the brink of financial collapse. I mean Spain has just been downgraded to BBB status, while France hasn't had a AAA rating for months. I believe it's only Britain and Germany left as big economies with AAA rating and Britain isn't even in the Euro so if Germany goes tits up it's really going to go down the pan.

How's this shit looking in the other countries? At the moment it all seems OK in Germany but I really can't see it lasting for long. And there seems to be a lot of arrogance here from the Germans regarding that.

About "THE MIGHTY PEKING MAN" and the girl who looked like Deb O'Nair, you gotta watch this to measure the full genius of that wonderful movie. Enjoy !!!

Yes , Inframan was alternately known as "The Super Infra Man"....but "Inframan" makes more sense , anyway. I saw it when it originally came out , here , too , and still watch it on occasion. I found the poster , only to find out , after the fact that I'd met him , that Basil Gogos did the artwork (It looks nothing like his usual work , but ,it still looks great.). Talk about boots , I preferred Princess Dragon - Mom's boots. The army of monsters is a riot , too....Obviously , this was intended as a cash-in on Ultraman(INFRARED/ULTRAMARINE  or Ultrasonic), WHICH WAS STILL A LITTLE KNOWN ENTITY IN MUCH OF AMERICA. I HAD A FRIEND WHO'D LIVED IN OKINAWA , HE TOLD ME ABOUT ALL THOSE SHOWS. I DON'T KNOW IF I'VE EVER SEEN ULTRAMAN ON TV , EXCEPT ON VIDEO. BUT , THIS IS A FUN FILM. ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE KIDS. I remember seeing it listed as "The Super Infra Man" in "The Monster Times " before it came out. It's kind of a cluMsy title. "mIGHTY pEKING mAN" WAS ALTERNATELY KNOWN , IN AN EDITED VERSION , AS "GOLIATHON"....

Much COOLER than a Lucas Film. More fun, too. I remember seeing it when I was a kid , too. I liked the rocket boots fine , but , now , I like Princess Dragon-Mom's boots much more. It's an unabashed Ultraman  copy , but , who cares? The monters are hilarious , and the Dragon-Mom and She - Demon are pretty easy on the eyes. "Mighty Peking Man" - oh dear. Now I'm going to need to track down "A*P*E*", aren't I?

Thiking of "Inframan" and "Mighty Peking Man" got me to thinking about " A*P*E* " (South Korean , 1975?). THAT is one of thee worst , ever. The usual story about a giant ape (A guy in a gorilla suit that looks even worse than the ones in "King Kong Escapes" or "King Kong Vs. Godzilla" ) , discovered in the jungle , brought to civilization , then wreaking havoc when his dumb ass realizes he's being exploited.  The effects rank down there with the very worst (In other words , you've GOT to see it !!). The giant shark tagged on at the beginning (In wake of the "Jaws" craze.) , is , of course an immobile rubber copy. The "Giant Snake" is actually a real Boa Constrictor (I think) , that just wraps itself around the monster ape's  arm , then jumps off. Some fight. The fight in the '76 "Kong" was even more convincing. The scene with the shark is at the beginning , I gather , because , after that , the whole movie jumps the shark. At one point , realizing the picture was tanking , the actor in the ape costume actually gives the phony copters "The Bird"! It's true.

Alex, you can use your new idea, but let's hold off until Vol. 10. I'd still like to use the "Garage Monsters" idea for a more Halloween-themed comp for October release (Vol. 9). I'll see if Stephen Blickenstaff wants to do that one. He's got some pretty great, creepy artwork.

The Coffin Joe film Awakening of the Beast is an oddball psychotronic and psychedelic classic, especially the colour scenes down in hell. For me, the weirdest bit is when Coffin Joe's face is painted on a ton of arses, which is kind of funny and unsettling at the same time.

The whole film is on youtube, but this just covers the bit when the film goes into colour from black and white.

I do remember this, but I have never seen it (never wanted to). My first exposure to it was the movie poster ad that was on the backs of numerous comic books I was reading at the time it was getting set for release. If I remember correctly, this was one of the first movies that former stuntman turned filmmaker Hal Needham released without Burt Reynolds, and he was trying to tap into the youthful market who were tuning into the action/adventure primetime TV shows at the time. I know it was a huge flop, and even the toys (from Mattel, I think) didn't even sell. You never know about flicks like these, it could become a newly discovered cult hit with a younger generation, ha! Wasn't this a career killer for Michael Beck?
