Hey, check out this swedish 80's garage/powerpop band: The Bangsters. They got signed to the French label New Rose in '84 who were so impressed with their demo that they released it just the way it was, no sugar added. The band features swedish hardcore punk pioneer Rolf Revålt on drums.

I'm glad Die Wasted brought up the Biters. Great band! Other faves: The Decibels, The Blades, The (Paul Collins) Beat, The Records, & The Fabulous Poodles.

Agreed. Modern Living is my favourite and I like Price of Sex too. On the beach is ridiculously cheesy.

Just skimmed through previous posts so these may have been mentioned. The Shake Some Action compilations are great if you want to discover more. I'm loving SVT at the moment. Heart of Stone...loooove that song. I must say powerpop is very hit or miss with me.

The Radio Stars had some good ones, though I'm not a fan of everything they did.

I was never big on Redd Kross' powerpop stuff. Their first album and Born Innocent were great though.

If you want to hear a ton of great bands check out the Shake Some Action (UK & Ireland) series, which has tons of great bands (99%) of which might be gone but are not forgotten.

BTW,  I would also recommend the Chevelles.  They have an excellent compilation out on Wicked Cool Records, titled "Barbarella Girl God," along with their entire back catalog, which is available via digital downloads.
