    • Hey Melissa, I'm listening again and you know what modern day band I'm getting? Buck Cherry?  Which for me isn't a bad thing but might make others cringe. And they kind of look like Death Angel with the multi-cultural members.  Cool stuff.

Hope all is well your way.

Yeah, a bit o' Aussie RAWK. I just dig the live version -- the way they're getting with the crowd and clearly having F.U.N. Glad you GOT THE FEELIN'.

Go the Late Riser's CLUB! *waving to Joanie in Boston*

What a great song.  They look glam but the sound is more of a straight forward AC/DC or Status Quo style (at least that tune).  I think I'll play it on my show this morning (if anyone's interested, http://laterisersclub.org at 10AM Boston time).

I need that sequin outfit... :D

    • No , I completely forgot The Cherry Bombs. This would have been early 90's , after the Cherry Bombs split up....I never cared for them much , I guess I should give 'em another chance , after 25 + years....I have a cassette of their somewhere , but , never played it. They did "Hot Girls' in Love" WTF!!! But this was a short lived band . Nasty Suicide may not have been involved.

Hes on TV? I never realized he reached that level of fame. Over there though bands that are obscure here win awards, so it must be completely different what music is popular in foreign countries.

I think that last band you mentioned might have been the CherryBombz. If thats what band you meant, I wouldnt have went either I guess.

PROBABLY. tHE ONLY PEOPLE i'VE HEARD TALK ABOUT THEM HAD LIVED IN FINLAND. Andy had , or has , a dysfunctional Rock 'n'Roll "Reality TV' show , liek the Osbournes and The $immon$  family.     I saw Andy twice in '88 WITH iGGY pOP , BUT , i THINK THAT'S THE ONLY U.S TOUR HE'S DONE SINCE THE ABORTIVE AND POORLY PROMOTED US TOUR WHICH ENDED , AS I'M SURE YOU ALL KNOW , IN DRUMMER , RAZZLE'S DEATH WITH VINCE NEAL AT THE WHEEL (HE COULD'NT HAVE SENT OUT FOR BEER?). NO , WAIT , THERE WAS ANOTHER BAND. I FORGET THEIR NAME. HIM , DAVE TREGUNNA OR Kenny Laguna, THE GUY FROM lORDS AND sHAM 69. MAYBE NASTY SUICIDE , TOO? They were at China Club , and I refused to go there.

Pelle Miljoona was Andy McCoy's best-known pre-Hanoi Rocks band; I've none of their records though. D.

    • Do any of you guys use Turntable.fm? It's basically a site with a ton of music rooms (different genres/themes) and you can play songs and listen to other people's tracks. It's pretty fun for hanging out and finding new music. It might be cool to start up a Hideout room for everyone here to spin some tracks.

I see most of my favorites are mentioned here. I also enjoyed England's Dreaming by Jon Savage (on The Sex Pistols and punk), Passion is a Fashion The Real Story of The Clash by Pat Gilbert, The Dirt by Mötley Crue/Neil Strauss (of course) and I really loved Hellfire by Nick Tosches.

Anybody read Keith Richard's Life or the John Einarson's Arthur Lee bio?

    • SIN GALORE are already on this Sampler ...and also on the Hideout. Look em up! Don't know if they are still doing stuff, though. Sinicess (also on the Hideout) did some great tracks to begin with, on hiatus now I think.

    • Great thread, I agree with you Wolfboy Slim, masks add another great dimension to a live show...I see Kiss mentioned, but I think we should draw the line between makeup (especially glam) and masks.

I too, really like, The Mummies and the bandage gimmick cracks me up.

The Mexican wrestling masks worn by, Los Staitjackets and the Dwarves, look brilliant. It must be murder to play in that getup in summer.

The Kings of masked shows around here (Oz) would be T.I.S.M. whose identities have never been revealed behind an unbroken line of diverse and bizarre masks.

However, I'm rather partial to 'Zorro' eye masks, which I think look excellent when worn by 6ts trash bands or Japanese Garage acts like the 5,6,7,8's and the Stompin' RiffRaffs. I think they would be my favourites, (though they're not always masked).

Go to "Chic A Go Go" on You Tube and see if her performance of "Rock'n'Roll Santa " is up.

    • HA HA....Well put. The Vodka advertisement is probably better.  Steven Tyler ....aping Alice Cooper ? SAY IT AIN'T SO.  The kid at 1:04 , he's a relatively well known actor , now. He's the guy from "Pecker" by John Waters. I did'nt make it thru the whole thing. Even lifting from The Yardbirds could'nt salvage this song , tho'.

    • No , I have'nt seen that , but Dee Dee signed a flyer for me . If I thought I was going to meet him , I would have brought a record. But , he was glad to sign it , illegible scribble and a big cracked coconut smile on his face .

Have you seen Dee Dee's hand-written lyrics to "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment" in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? They are written like a fourth-grader would do it, with his name and the date in large, childlike printing flush left at the top left corner, and the rest underneath it. You get the feeling he never quite moved past the horizontally-blue-lined pieces of paper with the dashed line in the middle for lowercase letters on which kids do assignments in elementary school.

According to Dee Dee's book, which I'm sure to some extent is based in reality, he wrote Warthog for his therapist who gave him the assignment of writing a love song. I always liked that song even better after reading that.
