    • I love me some of the APRIL MARCH roster: SHITBIRDS, PUSSYWILLOWS, the list goes on. Her Makers album is fantastic.

BRY - That's a great video if there ever was one!

John - The Friggs are just too good, you seen any of their "reunion" shows?

Tommy - Saw L7 in way back, can't remember when excatly. They're just too much fun live.

Stink, Hips, Wax - All of these are just to rad for their own good...  dig em lots.

Tea - Thanks for the heads up! Can't wait to hear this one.

    • Off the top of my head I would say The Seeds but it is not a complete collection, I think I miss one 45, and I had to sell compilations when I moved from UK to US.

Why the Seeds?  I love them of course and L.S.D. convinced me 2 notes were better than 3.

Also a side note - I was fired from my Duke University Radio Show after my Tribute to Sky Saxon Show for opening the show with "Fuck Michael Jackson what about Sky Saxon?"  Seems I forgot The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules.  It was a well received show with Sky's wife emailing the station to say thank you to me and they had more Continental listeners than ever before....

    • Gene Vincent, early Stones, Billy Childish in all incarnations, Brian Jonestown Massacre and Johnny Cash are the ones that spring to mind, quite a bit of Lee Hazlewood too!

    • Tanx Alex! The Cramps have been turning my crank since 1980 and i never tire of their records. Recently joined the Stay Sick group for The Cramps that i found out about somewhere on this here Hideout and that's opened up another door for tons of live downloads by The Cramps as well as demos and Cramps faves.

Here's a link to Kogar's Blogspot that has lots of Cramps and related downloads...

      Have fun with the link!!

    • OK Alex...you asked for it:

First shot is the brand new Cramps box set of 7" records that is on Munster Records...the pictures of Bryan alone are worth the cost...

2nd shot is some LP's and some singles...couple of the LP's are missing covers as they were damaged in a flood many years ago.

3rd shot is more LP's with some boots mixed in....

    • Let's see some photos!  I wanna see those Cramps records.

For me it's The Flamin' Groovies, The Cramps and The Rolling Stones.

With The Groovies, they were one of the first modern bands to really take their influences from the mid 60's and because of that, i had to have everything by them...singles, LP's and a ton of boots.

The Cramps were another HUGE influence on me...great songs, best live show, loads of songs they covered that i just had to have. Just recently bought a 7" box set by The Cramps on Munster Records that has amazing sound quality.

The Stones and The Beatles were my faves in the 60's, but in the long run, i prefer the Stones. At least right up to Some Girls when it all turned into shit...

      @Mike...that's an Impressive Damned collection!!!

And Alex, that's an Impressive Ty Segall collection!!

    • Yeah, here's the Epsilons stuff I forgot to post.  They were Ty Segall's first band with guys from Moonhearts.  Really good stuff.  I think the S/T (the CD) is the better of the two.

    • March 4, 2012 11:18 AM CST
    • Yeah I've wanted to check out their stuff, the S/T Moonhearts record is among my absolute favorites of the past couple years and Ty is already a legend.

This video is awesome, the Epsilon dudes doing a fake Laguna Beach episode:

Bringing things back on topic, doesn't qualify as Garage, but I've got about 150 releases/live boots from New Order. It's like 5 days worth of music. Granted it's all digital.

    • March 4, 2012 11:17 AM CST
    • Shit, I forgot to include my Epsilons records!  I have both of them, one on CD, one on vinyl.  Will put up a pic in a few!

I have two Epsilons discs (not sure if they released anything else) and they're both really good, kinda like the Cramps meets Devo.

that shit's bitchin alex, do you have any wisdom on the Epsilons? They were one of Ty's old group with some of the dudes from Moonhearts right? Back when they were wee ones. Is their business worth picking up?

    • Yeah, if you lump all of Billy's bands together, he'd be in my top 5, too. I haven't counted or anything, but the others are probably the Ramones, Cramps, Buzzcocks and ELO.

    • Mainstream music is always going to suck, especially now that the corporate music industry has crumbled.  They have to champion flamboyant Entertainers like Lady Gaga and TV contest winners instead of actual musicians in order to make money.  A few fluke "indie" bands make get through every now and then by virtue of a movie soundtrack or a commercial but your average Top 40 will continue to be made up of Disney boybots and fembots.

However, I think the internet has made it easier for young people to access music outside of the mainstream than ever before, making radio irrelevant, and creating niche audiences to support even the most esoteric of musical genres.  You can no longer hope to form a band, sign the big contract, and become a wealthy superstar, but bands who are interested in that kind of success are always crap anyway.

*Sigh*  I have already apologized, but you seem intent on twisting my statements to make it seem like I'm this complete troublemakin' troll.  I suppose I should shut up at this point, but I just wish you would consider that as a member, having the moderator publicly shut down your post for not being good enough in quality can feel both insulting and embarrassing.

Instead, consider posting a discussion asking members what they think the most appropriate topics are for the main discussion forum.  Consider then taking the consensus opinions and posting them as "strong suggestions" for posting under the network guidelines.  When someone posts a topic that is not "thought provoking enough" consider emailing the member and asking them to change the topic so it will be more discussion oriented, thus educating the member, allowing them to stay in control of their own posts, and preventing them from being embarrassed.

I know you said your remarks about Gringo were "tongue in cheek", but this has happened before. Gringo had to shut down two threads by the same member because they turned into an outright battle. So the member decides to publicly on here insult him because he was doing his job. How are any of us to know that what you posted wasn't serious?

Also, you said it was in your nature to "challenge authority". Look, we have enough to look into than a Hideout member willfully wanting to challenge us and push our buttons. I'm not trying to be a bully here, but if you think it's funny to do that, think again.
