The Kingsmen by a country mile,
Dead Elvis certainly plays along with the image well. The Torpedo Monkeys are cool, but surely the Dwarves should be on here as a gimmick band.
I think a lot of ugly guys get into rock n roll because it is the only way to get girls, the Ramones have faces chiseld from stone compared to the Rolling Stones.

The Mummies. End of discussion.
British Columbia's finest albu-men, The McRackins!!! Eggstravagantly ace!!
everybody, thanks for the replies. I would just think that in today's age of advanced electronics, there would be something more available and less expensive. On the plus side, maybe that means that the sound isn't something that the mainstream is looking for and this style of music will stay unmolested by the mainstream. Thanks again.

Probably not what ya wanna hear but "luscevious" is spot on.
If ya issues are reliability, ease of transport and replicating the exact sound of a Farfisa or Vox it has to be a Nord.
Downsides are....they look hideous, they cost an arm and a leg,and its full of Hammond and piano sounds ya wont use.
We spent years humping Farfisa's and Vox's around and after trying load's of cheaper option's had to bite the bullet and purchase a Nord.

nord keyboards are famous for that, but they cost a lot...try running a search on ebay, farfisas are always available in the states
Hi Everyone! I did a search but I really didn't come up with too much about this, so I thoughtI'd ask. Are there any modern keyboards/organs/pianos that can do the Farfisa or Vox sound? Anybody ever use any of these?
thanks,
John.
tomorrow... well that's just some other time... Peace

My 3 favourites, not in a specific order are (at this moment...)
- The Ramones at some festival in Belgium in around 1992 I think. Joey got in a fight with some asshole who threw a beer at him. He jumped into the audience en won!
- The False Prophets in the Melkweg in Amsterdam. It was a really weird, but also great show!
- The Mummies in Patronaat Haarlem. It was an unbelievebly good show! They rocked their asses of and played the roof off!
Ask me tomorow and I'll come up with a completely differend list... (maybe with Monstermagnet, the Kift, Mudhoney, Nirvana, NoMeansNo...)
Good call; Voodoo Rhythm has Stinky Lou (a very heavy, very bluesy, garage punk sound). http://www.voodoorhythm.com/stinky-lou.html
for those whi might not be aware, James Leg from the Black Diamond Heavies has released a solo album. Very good stuff. He's playing with former drummer from Pearlene, another underrated punk blues band.
on the blues side of the punk blues thing, some might be interested into the Broke and Hungry record label too...
cool shit

check out Black Diamond Heavies. They are a little more r&B based, but have that punk blues feel.
I guess I would have to suggest this guy: www.stompingnick.com
Yeah, he was mentioned earlier. Agreed: he is super cool and def worth mention at the top of the list.
In that case, don't forget Doo Rag...

Let me know what you think....
"stoked" by the beach bums er, boys.
Thinking about Poly Styrene's death reminded me of all the great X-Ray Spex songs that start with her shouting the song title before the band kicks in (Art-i-ficial, Genetic Engineering ein zwei drei vier, etc). I want to make a comp of all songs that start with the shouted title. Here's what I have so far, what am I leaving out:
Point Panic or Wipeout - Surfaris
Shake and Stomp - Dick Dale
Shimmy Shake - Ne'er Do Wells
Fire - Crazy World of Arthur Brown
I know there are tons more. Help me out.
For recording or playing at home or small shows i use an Alamo Dart. all tube rated at 40watts, but it's really pushing about 10.They have a very unique soung and break up great! You can still find them pretty cheap on ebay. i paid $50 at a music store for mine..
When I need volume I have a Sovtek Mig 60 + 2x12 cab. I bought it in 1997 for $200 with the cab. That thing is a total beast..Its loud as hell, amazing distortion when tha pre-amp section is cranked up. If you can find one of these BUY IT!!! But only the mig 60.The 50 & 100 watt models arent nearly as good..
