    • Just a tip for those of you who believe in promoting wherever you can:

eBandaGoGo is (yet) another networking site for bands, labels, etc. to peddle their wares. The very nice and helpful folks over there have used me for experimentation on opening up the site for podcasters. I think they call that section "Boss Jocks", or something. It was easy as pie to set up! I would suggest that you do to... unless, of course, you prefer not to promote n' such.

    • This is driving my nuts.
What farging songs belong to the riffs in the new Radioblivion intro??!??!??!
What really chaps my ass is I have a bunch on them - but I still can't figure out what they are. How lame is that?

    • Dunno if this has already been posted here but...

      http://deniztek.blogspot.com/2010/03/radio-birdman-archives-discovered.html

      Radio Birdman Archives Discovered

Radio Birdman management has located dozens of boxes of 24 track tape
recorded by the band in the mid 70's. These tapes had long been thought
to have been destroyed. The tapes were found at AC/DC's famed Albert's
Studios in North Sydney. They had been kept in a climate controlled
archive, and are in pristine condition.

The band will be sorting through all of the many hours of this material in the next month, to prioritize material for a box set that
will include outtakes, unreleased songs, and alternate versions. In
addition to studio material, there is a complete multitrack recording
of a concert at Paddington Town Hall, from 12/12/77. With a production
session scheduled for April, fans can expect a release by years end.

    • Speaking of garage guitar, i have a hofner colorama to rebuild, does anyone have some hofner parts to sell/trade ? I need a Colorama scratch plate, one pick up version 1 and a Hofner Diamond Top Six String Pick Up ... I don't really know how to stick the vinyl surface on the guitar body, it seems hard to do right for non-professional. This sites seems to provide hofner parts but i never try to order (the site looks old) : http://www.projectguitarparts.co.uk

    • I just stumbled across this old guitargeek.com forum thread asking for the best garage punk & primitive rock 'n roll rig. Being interested in guitar gear old and new I thought I would repost here and see if anyone wants to weigh in.

    • Well, I'm sure we'd all love to own copies of all our favorite Garage bands on vinyl, but those orginal pressing can get pretty pricey! I just picked up a reprint of "Black Monk Time" on 180 gram vinyl, and it's amazing(available on Amazon for those interested). Anybody know of any other recent re-issued Garage vinyl?(links please!)

    • Which Feedburner feeds are you having issues with? Each podcaster maintains their own Feedburner account/feed, so Michael's right in saying if one or two are giving you problems, to contact those individual podcasters directly.

    • Who ever wrote those notes... I'm guessing it was Greg Shaw who wrote the liner notes in the Pebbles series, wasn't it? Tim Warren's liner notes in the Back From the Grave series are great, too. Joe's Garage said:

One of the old "Pebbles" vinyl LPs had a great set of liner notes that kinda summed up a good reaction to the notion that the "Beatles saved rock and roll". Who ever wrote those notes did a great job to note how before the Beatles, Britain had Lonnie Donegal singing "My Father is a Dustman" type of crap. I watched that show on Feb 9th 1964 and I can remember there was a lot of U.S. rock music back then too. And anyway, Beatles, Stones, Who etc. did not bring us recycled Lonnie Donegan...now did they???

I found this tidbit of trivia: the 1963 Grammy for best rock and roll recording went to Bent Fabric for "Alley Cat".
Which gave rise to the explosion of polyester powder blue pant-suited 55+ women grinding wedding receptions to a halt to do the Hully Gully. When they all died off, it was replaced by bolt-on boobed spray tanned 40-somethings doing the Electric Slide

    • Well, that's good. It's just that it still needs some work. Yes, I know this has been going on forever, and I can't say I blame anyone for losing patience, but I'm sticking with it.

    • The reason that i went back, was that i was receiving emails from the site (or representatives thereof) saying that the site was improved. I didn't see any changes, but i did give it a chance. dave MikeL said:

Well, then, stop going to that site.

BTW, here's an e-mail that I received from fuzztopia. Maybe that was the plan all along, to just keep it in a beta format for a while to see how it would work out...

Fuzztopia would like to thank everybody who has created a profile and helped us test the site. Your feedback and contributions have been a huge help!

The site will be coming down for a little bit as we are in the process of making some changes based on your comments (better user interface, updated look and feel, faster load times, profile customization etc.), as well as continuing to get more cool content, and real opportunities for bands.

We will continue to keep you updated as we move closer to the launch.

    • Fuck you. I'll like whatever I want to like. If you can't deal with it, it's your problem. BTW, you should have written "believe" rather than "belief." And for your information, I like Springsteen's early material, i.e. "Born to Run" and "Darkness on the Edge of Town," along with select tracks from the first two albums and "The River." Yes, "Born in the USA" was an embarrassment, because it was the sell out album. OCEAN PALACE said:

the very fact he is bruce spprignsteisnsssss guitarist is enough reason not to have anythign to do with this thing, if you think differently then you should be ashamed. how can you belief in a man who plays dancing in the dark 100 times a year.

    • WFMU's Beware of the Blog always has been lots of fun, but while searching for MP3s of The Weird-ohs/Silly Surfers, I stumbled across this:  Beware the Blog posts by one Debbie D.

Here you'll find Songs the A-Bone Taught Us, Songs The Reigning Sound taught Us, Sogns The Blasters Taught Us, Songs The Fall Taught Us, etc etc Basically the original versions (or at least OLDER versions) of songs those bands covered.
This plus lots more. Check out the super soul of The Masked Man and His Agents. Nott o mention Titty Shakers at the top of the page.
And yes, I found a Silly Surfers song!
