Cheers everyone, I'm making my garage Christmas album now!
Cheers everyone, I'm making my garage Christmas album now!
Almost any Elvis Xmas songs , and , ALL James Brown - esp. "Hey , America" - "....Let's come together , Black , Brown ,BLUE OR GREEN....Even a man I have never seen...LET'S CELEBRATE WITH WINE ! VOLARE ! HAVA NAGILA !".
Joe , Yeah , I like it , too. Slade put out an album in the 80's called "Crackers". It's made up mostly of party songs . It was reisseued , years later , but , I doubt there's a version of it available , today. It's a great album.
Oh, forgot all about the Ramones tune.
Speaking of Slade and holiday songs, I've always liked their rendition of "Auld Lang Syne"/"You'll Never Walk Alone".
That's pretty funny "If only for the sleighbells.".
Wailers - Christmas Spirit.
Plan 9 - "Merry Christmas".
Andre Williams - "Poor Mr. Santa Claus" (XXX Rated version.)
Bob Seger - "Sock it To Me , Santa"
Teddy and The Tall Tops - "Christmas in The Congo"
James Chance - "Christmas With Satan"
Ramones - "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight ).
Slade - Merry Christmas , Everybody
Gary Glitter - "(Let's Have a ) Rock 'n'Roll Christmas" (Yeah , I know , bu t, you listen to the pHIL sPECTOR cHRISTMAS aLBUM , don't you ?)
Wizzard - "I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day"
Cordell Jackson - "Rock'n'Roll Christmas".
Elvis - "Santa Claus is Back in Town".
Screamin' Jay Hawkins with The Fuzztones - "It's That Time Again'
Trashmen - " Dancing With Santa"
Royal Guardsmen "Snoopy's Christmas".
POLKAHOLICS "Sausage Balls" (Jingle Bells)........ok ,they're not all Garage Punk , but , if you're sick to death of Christmas music , already (And who could blame you?), it's a good place to start.....
It almost goes without saying, but: The Sonics - "Santa Claus" and "I Don't Believe in Christmas"
The Didjits - "Under the Christmas Fish",
Sloppy Seconds - "Lonely Christmas",
Chuck Berry - "Run Run Rudolph" (also The Humpers' version),
Jukebox Zeroes - "Christmas in the City (Ain't Too Pretty)",
and The Stooges - "Now I Wanna Be Your Dog", if only for the sleigh bells.
Now in the Lovesores http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chod2CRhY2Y
Also two old faves:
It's that time of year again... Santa Claus is dusting off his baubles and we're being overrun by terrible Christmas songs 24 hours a day on the radio. What are the best garage punk Christmas tracks to defeat the cheesy pop music monster???
......oh , yeah , I did a show wih 68 Comeback , once. tHE bASSHOLES WERE SUPPOSED TO PLAY , TOO, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN LIKE A GIBSON BROS. REUNION, ALMOST...... BUT , DON HOWLAND HAD A PENCHANT FOR MISSING HIS OWN GIGS , VERY "GEORGE JONES". He called Jeff and said he'd be there , but , he did'nt show , so, I had to hold much of the shoe, myself, playing an hour or more.....The audience was really good, though.
That was me , in the 90's. Five new records a week , and even my little shIt job paid all right. I found myself trading in a lot of my Estrus stuff , except THE BROOD AND THE WOGGLES, BUT , i'D BEEN INTO GARAGE ROCK FOR 10 + YEARS , BY THAT TIME. NOT KNOCKING IT, IF IT STILL DOES IT FOR OTHER PEOPLE. BY THE TIME THE NOMADS STARTED TOURING TEH STATES , I'D BEEN LISTENING TO THEM FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS. I SAW THEM 3 TIMES , THEY WERE GREAT TWICE , AND AWFUL , ONCE. THE WASTE KINGS , BRIEFLY ON ESTRUS ,OPENED FOR THE NOMADS, AND THEY KILLED IT !
THEY COULD'NT GET ARRESTED IN CHICAGO , BECAUSE THEY DID'NT INTENTIONALLY SUCK.
Man, what was the record that got me hot for garage rock? Hmm...coming up in the Norfolk underground exposed me to the legendary M-80s in the late 1980s. They hipped me to the Stooges first two LPs. I think it was those two albums that really whet my appetite for this music. Then I "discovered" Estrus Records! The Makers, the Mono Men, the Mummies, the Mortals, Sugar Shack, Man or Astro Man, the Drags, early Southern Culture on the Skids...Then I found out about Crypt Records and the Gories! The Gories really hit me. It was simple, primitive and rockin' like a roadside jukejoint on the bad side of town. Of course I can't forget the Oblivians and the Bassholes. I really like that visceral lo-fi blues/R&B base trashy rock and roll.
WELL , I THOUGHT SO , TOO , BUT , TARQUIN WALKED IN ON MALCOLM AND THE LADY FROM HIS FEMINIST CLUB HAVING TANTRIC SEX , AND , HE'S BEEN IN INTENSE THERAPY ,EVER SINCE.
John Battles said:
Yeah , Chris , I was . But , Sid The Sexist and the lads came around and intervened.
Now I'm in the gutter , puking Newcastle Brown Ale and the spiciest curry they had at that Indian place....Mind , I only had one taste of it.
IT'S GOOD TO BE FREE.
I thought Tarquin would have sorted Malcolm & Cressida out.
You weren't hijacked by the Modern Parents, were you?
Chris , that's very sexist , saying they should be on BROAD - cast......what ? Oh , I'm sorry . Forget I said anything.

Voix de Garage is an ode to beautiful songs starting with "1.2.3.4!!!", to 3-notes guitar solos, to ear-bleeding larsens, to bands with less than two 7'' releases, to bass tom-based drum breaks, to simplistic bass lines. But also to glitter clothes and to guitar amps tuned up to 11!!!
In brief, Voix de Garage is the show for 1963 to 2013 garage, punk and rock 'n roll lovers!!!
It is in French, folks, take the opportunity to learn our 4 letters words ;)

Back next week with a regular 90m show.
The Cramps - "Mama OO Pow Pow". That's a good one.
There were a couple of Mexican versions of "Surfin' Bird" called "Surfin' Trabajo". Can't remember who they were by.
Deke Dickerson - "Surfin' Sanford Bird" "Lamont ! You big dummy ! Where my glasses at?!".
Beach Boys - Papa oo Mow Mow.
Knowledgeable parties , and even I , myself , agree, The Rivingtons put the whole Bird/Mow Mow in motion.
oh , and don't forget - " Flap doodle mammy doodle kitty kitty kow kow , mapatoodle , papatoodle , oom papa mow mow" ( Fat Freddie's Cat.).
In America , it was called "Glitter Rock" , which meant Elton John , who probably had a total of TWO Glitter or Glam songs ("Saturday Night's All Right For Fighting" , "The Bitch Is Back" , which always sat well with "Gudbuy T'Jane") was accepted as part of the genre , mainly because of his stage gear.
Kiss was accepted into the fold , early on , but , they were into something that I would'nt call Glam , just because they wore Glitter. They took elements of The Dolls , Slade and Alice Cooper , and commercialized them. Alice Cooper and David Bowie were thrown into this battle of "Shock Rock" practitioners , which really was;'nt fair to either of them. They were so different. Alice leaned more toward Horror , booze and cheap sex. As he said , it was cabaret. Maybe Bowie was cabaret , too , but , he leaned toward Sci - Fi , Straight sex disguised as Bisexuality, and , eventually , prodigous Cocaine use. THE ORIGINAL SPIDERS (Alice , of course , started out with his own Soiders , 4 of teh fiveoriginal Alice COOPER Group.) had a hard raunch sound , comparable to The ALICE cOOPER gROUP , BUT , THEY WERE VERY DIFFERENT , TOO. Alice would'nt simulate fellatio or ....UM ..."rear entry" with ome of his boys. The amusing part is , David , not Alice , was married with a young Son. Of course , Alice would eventually marry and Father some kids , and he's still with his wife of almost 40 years , today. It all read like a beef between professional Wrestlers , who were actually friends, but followed the Promotors.
Alice and David were FRIENDS ! I guess they figured , any press is good press. They were the two top (Diamond ) Dogs , but , Alice was all over the radio. I don't remember hearing David on the radio , until "Fame" hit it big , with 'Suffragette City" , "Space Oddity " , "Rebel , Rebel" , "Changes " , andothers , sunsequently going into rotation. bY THAT TIME , however, Alice was recieving more minimal airplay. David's comeback , in 1983 , seemed to take forever. Alice did'nt jump on the modern HEAVY METAL bandwagon 'til '86 . BY '90 ,HE'D REACHED THAT AUDIENCE , BUT , ON THEIR TERMS. wHEN i FINALLY SAW HIM AGAIN , IN '98 , HE WAS GOING FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH. I'm sure David's lad tour was just as good , in it's own way , but , I did'nt have $100 to go see him in a venue with crap acoustics.
The Dandelion Seeds did a record back in the day. you can listen to it here: http://thedandelionseeds.bandcamp.com/album/the-dandelion-seeds
John Schooley has posted some pretty cool photos of the Revelators and Oblivians from their 1997 European tour on his blog. Check 'em out at the link below:

Am I feeling old or does 1997 feel like it was a lifetime ago now???
Ever see a band or singer you love in a movie , but ,were frustrated that they went by so fast , BUT, appreciative that they were there at all?
Here's a few...
The Birds - "The Deadly Bees".
Teenage Head - "Class of '84".
Screamin' Jay Hawkins - " American Hot Wax" (For more Screamin' Jay , in champion form , look for the movie , "Joey".)
The Leaves - "The Cool Ones" - Better than most cameos , but still too short.
anyway , I'll think of some more. Just trying to help get Psychotronic Culture up and moving around , again.
I can think of better topics , and I'm sure you can , too.......
