I don't get my nut watching people beat each other up , but , that clip is so funny - "AH WANNA SIT NEXT TUH HASIL NOW !!!"....REALLY COOL VIDEO , LOVE THE USE OF COLORS , ESP. THE GREEN AND BLUE. The song rocks , too.

I {heart} that tone that Link Wray has. Pussy Galore's 'Cunt Tease' has a similar tone.

My favorite is the guitar in "Shakin' All Over" by Johnny Kidd and the Pirates. So cool.

Also, the guitar tone in "Primitive" by The Groupies.

There definitely ARE Male Groupies , but , how they go about it is very different , at least , most of the time.... I've met Female rockers who were very sexy and very friendly , but , I was'nt trying to make them uncomfortable , just make conversation , and , they understood that. Whether it went beyond that , I'm pleadin' the fifth. Maybe some of them want to have Male Groupies. You have to understand , we Men are generally clueless on such matters.

Any guy with sense does'nt want to step over the line , or be out of line....

Maybe some Lady Rockers are'nt making their interest clear , because they don't want to be percieved a certain way , or they forget , WE'RE GUYS. We're the ones who need to be hit in the head once in a while , to know the other in interested.

I saw The Pandoras in '86 , and , while they had a lot of Male fans in attendance. Most of them were terrified by their sexual confidence and aggression. Not this boy.

I saw Mary a few years ago , she looked and sounded amazing. The album on Norton ROCKS. Not taking away from her past glories , but it's a great setting to hear her in.....One can only imagine , the unfinished Shangri - La's reunion album on Sire Records , at the height of East Coast Punk and Power Pop , might have sounded something like this.....

There's Margaret Doll Rod , still performing under that name , with a guitar/drums set up , often Bluesier than she was with "Dem Dell Rods" as Andre called 'em.

Honkitonkioke , From NYC (?) . She sings Country standards , with an overhead projector , using drawings on clear plastic like puppets....You'd have to see it. Words fail me.

Did anyone mention the Late , Great Cordell Jackson ? The first woman to own and operate her own studio , before Bonnie Guitar. Very seldom played with a band at all. Her solo live show was a wonder to behold. Fiery , fiercely independent and FUN. GREAT INSTRUMENTALIST , SINGER AND SONGWRITER , And , a great lady , besides....Look for "Live in Chicago" on Bugout Records.

Barbara Lynn sometimes plays solo . Do I have to tell you it's great ?

There's more. Gotta think of 'em. You're asking a man to THINK? Ohhhh, it's gonna be a long night.

 I can't think of that many , besides Mark Lindsay. When The Raiders were still more of a Frat Rock group , he was honkin' his horn a'plenty , and , later on the recited smoocher "Melody For an Unknown Girl.",  already out of date for it's time. I saw Mark in 2001 , and he was wailin' sax on numbers like "You Can't Sit Down" and "Night Train". Of course , The Raiders' "Louie" was more sax - driven , too. I'm not good on names . The Wailers had a couple of great sax players , inc. the guy who played with them in later years , when they stormed the Ponderosa Stomp. He killed !

Screamin' Jay played a pretty mean sax , himself , as did Ray Charles. Dave Hill from The Treniers , who's still alive and well , Dave "Bubba" Mitchell , from Milt Trenier's band , also still alive and CRAZY , as he nears his 90th Year , Earl Bostic , Louis Jordan ,  Lonnie Youngblood , The late , great , Sam Butera , Bobby Keyes , of course , Gordon from The Fleshtones , God Rest His Soul , Lora Logic from X- Ray Spex and Red Krayola , and her successor in the first band - Forgot his name - And ,who's the cat from The Pastel Six? I saw him sit in with Sky Saxon and The Seeds , it worked , too ! , Jesse Scinto , who's a younger guy , is keeping the honkin' sax tradition going , but , he does'nt seem to play much , these days....

I love Steven McKay's Sax playing , even tho' my brief flirtation with Avant Jazz is basically over. He added a lot to the group , and still does. Nice guy , too , met him , briefly , once.

Yeah, I mean I grew up getting into Steve McKay's sax playing. Iggy told him to play like Maceo Parker (J.B.'s main alto man) on acid! It's kinda how he plays.

This is 1 of the top books of 2011 easily. It's a look back at punk bands (mainly garage-y) from about '86 to '00. It's informative, funny, and fairly comprehensive. Anyone else read it?
