That Shindig article must have mentioned "Shinrock!" The Flintstones ' parody of the still - current "Shindig ! " TV show , with host Jimmy O'Neil doing the voice - over for his own cartoon countenance , and introducing , yep , The Beau Brummelstones. 

Pebbles and Bam Bam had their own Saturday Morning Cartoon show in the 70's , and they , and their teenage friends , had a band. Sally Struthers did the voice of Pebbles and sang all , or most of her parts on the songs.  Her Dad did'nt approve of her hanging out with "Dem Stone - Age weirdos".

The show was revived in the late 70's. There was one episode with the most pathetic KISS parody imaginable (Even moreso than KISS , themselves , today.) , called "The Cavemen". One had an orange afro , the other , green . One rolled his eyes , the other wiggled his ears. Fred and Barney are called in to impersonate the duo , singing their "Hit" , "We're gonna rock all day , we're gonna roll all night , we're the Cavemen , yeah ! Yeah! Yeah ! ALL RIGHT !".

Then , you had The Archies , Josie and The Pussycats , The Groovie Ghoulies , Fat Albert and THE Junkyard Band ,  Osmonds and Jackson 5 cartoons , Rick Springfield even had his own cartoon show "Mission Magic" , when he had one American hit under his belt , and barrel -scrapers like Butch Cassidy and The Sunset Kids , The Amazing Chan and The Chan Clan , The Brady Kids , PARTRIDGE FAMILY 2200 AD (No involvement from Shirley Jones or David Cassidy. Can you blame 'em?) , and so many others.....

Prior to that , The Beatles had their own cartoon show , and there was a funny animal band show , "The Beagles". Scooby Doo featured Jerry Reed , Davey Jones , Sonny and Cher and others , in cartoon form.....They also had a band called Tabatha and Adam and The Clowns , Samantha and Darren's offspring as young adults in a Rock group ( THERE WAS A BEWITCHED CROSSOVER ON "The Flintstones" , as well.). The Cattanooga Cats were a travelling, "Cat" Rock group in flashy 60's threads . They're notorious , today , for their song , "My Birthday Suit" . LOOK IT UP.

I can't think of any Cartoon bands that'd fall under the heading of "Garage Rock" , tho'....

But , after ice cream and Horror movies , cartoons are Roky's greatest passion. That's good enough for me.

IT WAS A THREE PIECE PUPPET BAND , THEY WERE BIRDS , AS I RECALL....ONE LOOKED LIKE LUX , ANOTHER LOOKED LIKE KID CONGO , BUT, THEY WERE'NT REALLY SUPPOSED TO BE THE CRAMPS. I was just reading an article in Shindig about bands appearing on the Flinstones (of course they had to add the stone-age puns...Beau Brummelstones, Ann-Margrock) and it got me thinking about bands appearing on cartoon shows. Does anyone know of any other cartoons that actual bands have appeared on, or have a favorite moment?

I grew up on the Simpsons, so naturally my favorite moment is when the Ramones wish Mr. Burns a Happy Birthday...

what kind of music are you playing?

i am having intermittent tone troubles with my Bandmaster, and i will eventually get it looked at. but for now i would like to explore some other sounds anyway.

Side note- I purposely avoid studying gear the same way i avoid "mastering" scales/ the fret board. i don't know what my theory is really, but it seems to take some of the rock and roll out of it, to me.

so... i am a craigslister, and out looking for a used midsize / back up amp. lightweight would be awesome. and maybe i should get something known for dependability, since the bandmaster is letting me down lately.

any suggestions?

thee oh sees are the band number one these days if we are talking about originality and pure and pure rock n roll spirit. maybe their last record isn't great (havent check it) but they release like 2-3 albums per year. so beat that haters

I think Demian's album was better than the Bubble Puppy's.
And yes, I know it's the same four guys on both LPs.
As much as I love Bubble Puppy's "Hot Smoke & Sassafrass" (and the B-side, "Lonely"), I think Demian has the edge.

WELL , i SEE WHAT YOU MEAN , BUT , OUT OF ALL THE REFORMED 60'S GARAGE - ERA BANDS (AND I DID A THREAD ABOUT THIS) , ONLY A COUPLE WERE REALLY , REALLY BAD. BESIDES THE GREENFUZ , I CAN'T REMEMBER WHO ELSE WAS.....But , I have a friend who thought he was going to blow the minds of all his Old School Punk Rock FRIENDS BY PUBLICALLY ANNOUNCING THAT HE LIKES ABBA. I had to tell him , even Abba has Punk cred in some circles ,  now , so , don't expect anyone to be shocked.Sorry , we were talking what we DON'T like (Not that I particularly like Abba.) . More on that , later......

Plus , Dylan comes off incredibly rude in "Don't Look Back" , so you could say , maybe , his contempt for the interviewer , is a proto - Punk stance. Maybe.

The members of Love were often percieved the same way.

"crunch" is probly the most likely thing to grab me off the street. usually from great guitar tone, but crunch can come from vocals, too. Cool. Yeah, here in the greater Detroit area, we don't really hear much of what is going on in other parts of the state. We know there are things going on in Lansing and Kalamazoo (I live in Ann Arbor and, even though the scene here is good in comparison to most parts of the state, it still isn't very thrilling, considering this is the home of the MC5 and Stooges). But, I know that cool things can happen anywhere, as long as there are a motivated few, many cool things can happen. I am just surprised I've never heard of Ice Pick. 

Ice Pick is (was...just closed recently even though have had a few benefit shows to try to keep it open) one of the oldest punk venues in the country.  This side of the state is always an after thought.....most bands play Detroit or the college towns of Lansing, Ann Arbor or K-Zoo and maybe.....will make it this far west if they had time or needed some extra cash on their way to South Bend or Chicago. Probably some of the well knows who actually made it through were MDC, DOA, and Black Flag.  Lot of local stuff.....Jim Jones and the Kool-Aid Kids.  It was fun for us small town kids to go there.  Most people from my little town that went there regularly ended up moving to NY or Chicago after High School...so it had an impact.

When are you lot going to obtain a DAB, satellite and FM licence?

I had forgotten about this place(which is a shame, the discussion is a lot better than on a lot of other music boards).  Hope there's another Hideout Comp soon so I can submit a track from my band.

The eating ice cream in front of the TV and the short temper were the exactly the same things that Entertainment Weekly picked up when the did a review in this latest issue.

I think the hair and clothes are fitting.  It jumps around a bit in the trailer so it's hard to tell for sure if the years match but I'm gonna guess that David Chase paid a little more attention than most when it came to detail.  Can't say anything about the sound yet of course, but gear looks OK too.

BTW, I thought Bella Heathcote was really cute, and the little sister of the band's lead singer blossomed quite nicely at the end.  

I'll leave it up to everyone else to debate the authenticity of the band's clothing, hair styles, gear, and sound, along with the song choices for the soundtrack.
