    • OK, i know this band is long gone, but for some reason i've been really obsessing over them lately. Bought one of their singles Let's Get It On/Cadillac back many years ago and their other single  Long Gone/She'll Always Be Mine has been on my want list ever since.

I've got the Get Hip LP Long Gone Lp and have played the shit out of this as it's such amazing high energy rock'n'roll. And what really got me going was that i found a rockabilly compilation LP called Cincinnati Rock & Roll 1950's at a record show the other day that had Orangie Ray Hubbard doing what i always thought was a Customs original, Is She Sore. That song just blew me away it was so good!!! And that opened up my obsession with The Customs once more.

I know that Peter Greenberg x-DMZ was on lead guitar and that probably accounts for some of this band's great taste.

So what i want to know, were The Customs as good live as all of their records lead me to believe?

Did any of you guys get to see this band in it's prime?

      Any stories to tell??

Also, the Beatles question this is the kind of question that spawns a hydra head basket of arguements and fights on here, haha!

After nearly having a memorabilia overdose every time I go into any tourist shop in London I try my best to avoid their music. I can never visit Liverpool for fear of total overkill of nostalgic nick nacks.

But let them catch their breath and come back full force next year! I like hearing about that stuff they got coming up this year - finally a "R'N'R hall of fame kind of thing" that doesn't smell! ;)

    • Show #361: "Bands & Artists Starting With A, Part 6"

Every 3 weeks I do a series of shows I call the "Alphabetical Series" where I randomly draw a letter of the alphabet from a hat. Whatever letter I draw, I take all the bands and artists in my collection (from the 50's, 60's & 70's only) that start with that letter and play them in strict alphabetical order one by one until I run out of time. This week I drew the letter "A". This is the sixth time I've drawn the letter "A", so I will start from where I left off on show #5 (which was with The Arbors). So, tune in tonight (Friday at 10:00pm EST) to hear 3 hours of bands and artists that start with "A" like: Arc, Arcadium, Arcesia, The Archies, Archimedes Badkar, Ardo Dombec, Ardy & Lassess Oronpaj, Area, Argent, Argosy, Ariane, Ariel, Ariesta Birawa Group, The Ark, The Arkay IV, Arkham, Armageddon, Armaggedon, Armand, Joan Armatrading, Desi Arnaz Jr, and many others!!!

    • We have multiple matching outfits: Gold dresses, sparkly blue dresses, black dresses, a stripes theme. We get to pretend we're 5 year old quadruplets and shop for matching outfits. It rules.

    • Bands that have a look ALWAYS get my thumbs up even if they stink "musically". XD My old band The Reverbians was a perfect example.  Not the greatest musically but we wore the masks & matching stripe shirts.  It was dumb & didn't have anything to do with the "theme" of the band, but that was exactly what we were going for.  Wanted people to walk in a bar where we were playin' & go...what the fuck?!....I gotta see this shit!".

We gots the animal house frat rock suit thing I guess.  Not necessarily a "uniform" but like ya sez, you're putting on a show dammit!  I can't stand when I go see a band that's supposed to be in this genre & they just get up there in whatever they wore that day...lame.

    • February 17, 2012 3:34 PM CST
    • We all wear wrestling masks, so that's kind of like a theme.

    • Well, maybe he was hoping to work on both things at once, and now he realizes that he can't do that.  Again, I'm just taking a guess.

If this is true, it's sad, but they've been around forever, so maybe it's just as well that they're finally calling it a day.
