THE SLOTHS STILL PLAYED , DID'NT THEY ? WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE. LOOKS LIKE A WEAK YEAR FOR FESTS. EXCEPT IN EUROPE , I GUESS.
I heard about this , but , it was so long ago , I forgot about it. I think the story of The Seeds is just as interesting and relevant as that of Love , the monks , or The 13th Floor Elevators.
I'm amazed Kim Fowley had anything good to say. Of course , it was shocking that Sky actually sucker - punched him at The Vegas Rockaround in 2004. I was'nt in the room when this happened , but , the two , very visibly , avoided each other all weekend. Fowley told my friends and I , "You fucking Garage kids ! You just want to jack off and smoke a joint to the new Seeds reissue !" , then he looks at one guy I did'nt know , and asked him , "Are you gonna sit here and tell me you would'nt fuck Brittney Spears if you had the chance?" , to which he replied , "I might fuck her BOYFRIEND , whoever that is at the moment , but , I'm a QUEER!". Kim did'nt have an answer to that one. This article is the first time I've ever read ANYONE describing Sky Saxon as "Handsome" , though countless women have said he had irresistable sexual magnetism. He was never seen , at The Rockaround , without at least one , sometimes two , women on his arm. But , even as a much older man , his gentle nature (Barring the Fowley incident.) drew female fans to him.....it all seemed innocent enough , really.
The Big Beat/Ace reissue of "The Seeds" is BAD ASS , by the way. I did'nt understand the line about the album not possibly containing any outtakes. They're there.
OK , Dave lives in Texas , so he knows. The easiest way to get your house party busted , if you've got bands playing , is to have it next door, or relatively close to , a frat party going at three times the volume. You know they're not going to let them take the fall . Not when there's a perfectly good rowdy Indie - Rock concert with a moshpit going and people pissing their names in green beer in the snow. There's this new thing called Ska I've been hearing about , as well , from Boston . Shoot me your 411 , and I'll bring some of my vinyls ! BTW , heard the new Remains 8 Track , yet ?
Seems like something from another era.
On a serious note..... what is the scoop on concert shows and those stores that sell the 12" CDs in Beantown? Going to be there next week for a day or two.
I know, sooo stoopit! FFS, don't these guys have actual CRIME to look out for?
Downliner song- "He Was A Square" Ain't it the truth! :D

BwaHaHa!!
Boston Punk Zombies Are Watching You!
Passing yourself off as a credible music scenester, on the other hand, is an order of magnitude more difficult. Never mind drug lords—no one can identify a poseur more quickly than a hipster; sniffing out fakes is essentially the entire job description. That's what Boston police are finding out as their bungling efforts to infiltrate the underground rock scene online are being exposed.
Yea, like you said, different singer, but still good!

I think the singer from the Okmoniks went on to form a band called the Manxx:

My three favorites of the past year. At least two of the three have gotten lots of press in our small circle of the music world. All three are fantastic.
Bleached: http://www.facebook.com/HelloBleached/app_178091127385
Colleen Green: http://colleengreen.bandcamp.com/releases
Pamela (ladies from Wax Idols): http://www.southpawdistro.bigcartel.com/product/pamela-7-ep-members...
I heard a Urinals song that I've never encountered, trance-y
Deadbeat Beat from Detroit. Sounds like good pop. 2 songs, plus a bit of info.
All of the above!
hahaaaha what! Might be sooo bad it's good?
Yea, I hear you two. And yea, I will most likely see it in someway, even if it's on Netflix. And MikeL, your promise of a drink in writing is a prize enough.
The movie though that I am really looking forward to is Good Vibrations about the Irish label of the same name. Here's trailer:
That's the spirit, Rod:)

WELL, it's gotta be better than any movie about the 80s Sunset Strip.

I really have no idea what to expect from this flick. I'm going to wait until it comes out and give it a chance then. Even if the reviews are overwhelmingly bad, I'm still going to see it just out of curiosity. BTW, Cheetah Chrome will be in this movie, and he will play a cab driver who hates punk rock. I'm friends with him on Facebook, and he seems to be pleased with it, especially the actor who plays him. When he was on the set, he posted a comment that said, "Been weird bumping into myself all day." I really like Alan Rickman, so I am curious to see him play Hilly.
BTW, I was waiting to see who would bring up this topic first, so congratulations on being first. I have no prizes to offer, but I'll buy you a drink if I ever cross paths with you.
The Dictators (Manitoba) had this posted on their Facebook page. Could be a real disaster of a film I'm sure. Maybe it'll be surprisingly good (probably not).

I see I replied to this already. I could probably think of more "Less P.C." Nervebreakers songs , if I rack my mind , and think about it......Sorry , that was The Yardbirds.

All your examples are good , Romanne , but , I never thought of "My Girlfriend is a Rock" as being un - P.C. It's just about a guy that's literally in love with a rock. More un - P.C. Nervebreakers include "I Wanna Kill You" , or Barry Kooda's solo "Guns and Bullets" or Tex Edwards' solo "Lesbian Cowboy Girls" and "Going Down South" , both of which are P.C. and UN - P.C. . AT THE SAME TIME !
Some of The Stones' least P.C. songs , along with "Star , Star" (I sang that at Karaoke , recently !), include "Cocksucker's Blues" , "Andrew's Blues" , "Memo From Turner" (Which is considered an early Jagger solo track , I guess. Both (Released ) versions are filthy , by the standards of the day , "Some Girls" (The uncensored version) , "Claudine" (Did'nt even make it to "Emotional Rescue " as planned. It's on the "Some Girls" reissue. Rockabilly partial rip of Jack Scotts ' "Leroy" about Claudine Longet and the murder of Ski champ, Spyder Sevitch , for which she walked. ), "Stray Cat Blues" , and , well , "Stupid Girl". It's funny that "Satisfaction" was sometimes censored , yet Jagger throws in the "B" word twice on that number.....By the time "Bitch " came out , I guess , it was less controversial , because the word was'nt used as a slur against women.
