Hey -- thanks to all the garagepunkers on here for keeping this discussion alive. I still can't get past X and Exene C -- my all-time fave female singer in one of my most-loved bands. Of course, I've also listed The Divinyls previously. Insane live -- downright dangerous to be in the front of the audience when they came on in their heydey. I mean, you may have been in danger of getting your mind blown.
That said, I can't get past The Jackets right now. I just love Jackie and what she brings to her audience. I wish I could see them live, but a trip to Europa at the moment just ain't in the stars for me.
Closer to Stateside, check out the Handcuffs from Chicago if you like some power pop and good guitar noise. I'd list more but my brain is not working due to instant-only coffee causing a misfiring of my neurons today.

Ok, I'll admit it, I never got it with The Cure. Is it too poppy? Too faux Goth? They always seemed like they were TRYING to be clever instead of actually being so.

Very hit or miss. Of course, their early stuff like THREE IMAGINARY BOYS and PORNOGRAPHY was right on target. A vastly underrated band to be sure.

On YouTube there are numerous integral live-concerts to be enjoyed.
Their typical sound both gloomy and dreamed with a nice beat and mysterious lyrics.

i like all of Nancy and Lee's better - known duets and some of the lesser known ones , too , like from their second LP. DON'T HAVE THE THIRD....Chances are , not many of us do.I HAD THE VERY GOOD FORTUNE TO SEE NANCY AND LEE TOGETHER IN THE EARLY 90'S.
Lee's voice , in person , was incredibly low. Right down there with J.D. SUMNER AND CAPTAIN BEEFHEART. "She....called ....me ..SAAAAAAAAAND.".
Super nice guy , too , his big resurgence had'nt happened , yet , so , he was blown away by the attention he was getting.

If you're any kind of a fan of Lee Hazlewood, then Ace put out a CD of his stuff on MGM, which includes a demo of Summer Wine with the delightfully named Suzi Jane Hokum sing Nancy's part.

Of course , there's Bud and Travis , who were probably better known for doing Folk duets , but had a Rock'n'Roll hit with "Tell Him No" , The best record The Everlys never made , and that you'll probably never , or very seldom , hear on Oldies radio.

This was a special fill-in for the History Of Us (CHRW retrospective show) in which we dedicated the show to the Graphics Underground London 1977-1990 show that is happening this weekend. On friday Oct 26th, we have the art opening at Forest City Gallery. On saturday, Oct 27 we have the opening party with;Uranus, NFG, The Zellots and The Enemas re-forming for one night only at Call The Office. And this weekend will be the unveiling of What Wave 24, an all London Ontario edition which comes with a 90m cassette of all local bands from 1978 to 1992.

Our intent was to talk a bit about the beginnings of punk rock here in London and then play the entire cassette that comes with the What Wave. Didn't accomplish either as we had many guests for this show....Markii Burnaway from NFG, Bob Gliddon from NFG, Brian Lambert from The Enemas and he is also the curator of this whole Graphics Underground show. And Rena O, editor of What Wave zine was also present....a packed onair booth!
